Homebrew The Aesoi Species Details

Notorious throughout the universe for their barbaric customs and savage fury, the Aesoi Raiders are one of the most feared races of the outer reaches. Their home planet Ryelun, once known for its beautiful golden skies and azure plains, became uninhabitable after the war of clans. The land fell dark after the death of the ruling Empress N'dalia, as two opposing factions rose to claim the throne. The clan of the Three Suns, ruled by Kellen Da, high priestess of the Shenathi, and the clan of The Broken Way, lead by the augur Ren Da. Industrial revolution blackened the sky and blood seeped into the soil, staining the waving blue fields red. Having destroyed their own planet from centuries of war and violence, the Aesoi boarded deep-space carriers and became the go-to mercenaries for many races in times of war. 

Fierce and Strong

The aesoi are elegant a race, tall and slim with deceptively delicate features on their diamond-shaped faces. Their skin tones range from a blush pink to the deepest of blood reds, but rarely you may find an Aesoi with skin the same color as the azure plains of their homeland. Their pigmented skin is completely devoid of hair, although many are born with different markings. The large ridge leading to the point of their head is usually adorned with piercings denoting rank and clan affiliation. 

Sexual dimorphism can be seen in the sizes of the two sexes. Females tend to be between 5 - 6 feet in height with deeper colors, whereas males range between 3 - 4 feet in height and tend to have muted colors. 

 

Clans and Raiders

Although the War of Clans has long since finished, there still rests some bad blood between the two factions. The clans have carved out territories that they fiercely defend against opposing clan raids, each developing their own weaponry and tactics to get past the other's defenses. The Aesoi are a matriarchal society in which the females are the strongest and most brutal of the two sexes, often preferring each other's company instead of their weak male counterparts. The males are often simple-minded workers used mainly for ship maintenance.

Children of Fire

War is forged in the blood of Aesoi veins. Their rage on the battlefield lends to their fierce reputation, rage is a powerful drug the Aesoi are easily caught up in. During battle the Aesoi have the ability to tap into their ferocious spirits and channel it into the fight. There are tales of Aesoi shifting colors, turning deeper shades of red as their attacks become more vicious, killing everything that lives even fellow clanswomen, stopping only when they alone stood victorious. 

Age

Aesoi have the same lifespan of humans, but rarely live longer than 75 years.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Menacing

You gain proficiency in the Intimidation skill.

Relentless Endurance

When you are reduced to 0 hit points but not killed outright, you can drop to 1 hit point instead. You can’t use this feature again until you finish a long rest.

Savage Attacks

When you score a critical hit with a melee weapon attack, you can roll one of the weapon’s damage dice one additional time and add it to the extra damage of the critical hit.
