Homebrew Usuroid Species Details

Floating aimlessly through deep space, blacker than the dark matter that surrounds it and appearing as a tear in space itself, drifts the Paelon Astroid belt. It travels, unseen, unheard, and forgotten by all but a few. The four great asteroids that make up a bulk of the belt all interlock, held together by some invisible thread. Their surfaces are sharp and barren, dispersed throughout are small luminescent fungi clinging to the charcoal crags.

Moored alongside many on the glowing fungi are large, glossy black worms known as tunnel drivers, subservient only to the Usuroid. Traveling only by fresh wormholes created by the tunnel drivers to avoid any contact with outsiders, the Usuroid are living myths. A race lost to time, they inhabit the desolate asteroids with ease. Many centuries ago the Usuroid hid away from all those who sought to exploit their intelligence for evil, but the years of solitude with no outlet for invention took a toll on their minds. Eventually, the Usuroid started conducting experiments on anything and anyone, including themselves. Over time they became something else entirely: half machine and half organic.

Heirs to Scientific Power

The Usuroid have all developed their own body modifications, but one thing they all have in common is their altera derma, a thin membrane of technology embedded just under the skin. the altera derma gives the Usuroid unusual powers most lesser beings would call magic. Binding the altera derma to one element of their choosing, the Usuroid have the bionic ability to control the element to a limited degree. Genasi Names

Cyborgs of their own Creation

The Usuroid are not an imposing people, their heights range from 3 - 4 feet tall, unless they make some added modifications. Their skin glows translucent from the time spent in deep space with only the light of distant galaxies to help guide them, their altera derma can be seen pulsating just beneath the sheen of their flesh.  Long, hair-like tendrils grow just behind their ears, often standing straight up due to the static energy coursing through their bodies.  Many of the Usuroid have between five and ten eyes pocketing their small faces, with only three open at a time.
