Homebrew Canaarians Species Details
They sought perfection, and yet when they found it in me, they cast me aside. Their fear and hatred made an outcast of me, and so I turned their rage back on them, and I burned everything they loved.
Canaarians, once considered the perfect race, were incredibly technologically advanced, and had a reach that spanned the world. They had a mastery of both magic and technology, and were able to combine them in ways the rest of the world had never seen. A little over a century ago, Canaarians were brought to near extinction in the Devastation. Outsiders know very little about the Devastation, and Canaarian culture in general, but stories of it were passed down through Canaarian families. The survivors of the Devastation were forced to flee their home world to escape the wrath of the God of Change.
Ethereal Beauty
It’s unnerving to look upon a Canaarian’s face, with their unblemished symmetry. They have a haunting, ethereal perfection, even more so than elves. A Canaarian’s skin tone encompasses the normal human range, though they often have an ashy hue. The same can be said of their hair and eyes, though their hair can also be silver, and their eyes are brighter than elf eyes, ranging in colour from golden-brown to crystalline blue, vibrant green to liquid silver. Their height ranges from 5 foot 7 inches, to 6 foot 7 inches. Females have a more slender build than males, who tend to have a more muscular build.
Many Canaarians fled before the peak of the Devastation, and cast aside their belief in their own superiority, going on to have families, and children, with other races. These children are looked down on by pure-bloods, who refer to them with derogatory terms like ‘half-blood’ and ‘half-breed’. These half-bloods show traits from both parents, though the Canaarian traits are typically dominant. One notable exception to this is children of a tiefling parent, as the demon genes are dominant.
A Timeless Perspective
Canaarians can long outlive even elves, but mature at the rate of humans. It’s this combination that allowed them to become so quickly advanced, and this advancement is the reason Canaarians consider themselves a superior race. There are two different groups of surviving Canaarians — those who fled before the peak of the Devastation, and those who fled during and after. The latter are the pure-blood Canaarians, many of whom show great contempt for those who fled at the beginning of the Devastation, as they feel as though they have abandoned their people. Most pure-bloods still see themselves as superior, and refuse to marry or have children with anyone other than another pure-blood, though not all Canaarians share this superiority complex.
Master Architects
Before the Devastation, Canaarian cities were vast, sprawling metropoles. Their stonework was second to none, and buildings were inlaid with beautiful carvings, their style unique to Canaarians. Their abilities are so impressive that even a century after the Devastation, the ruins of their cities are still standing, and still distinguishable to anyone who would recognise the carvings. Survivors are now scattered across the realms, having sought refuge wherever they could, though they continue to utilise their skills and abilities in the time since the Devastation ended. Many take on creative and inventive roles as builders, tailors, artists and alchemists, to name a few.
Gendered Differences
Canaarian males and females are inherently different in regards to strength and intelligence. Females are raised to be intelligent, whereas males are raised to be strong. Because of this, males and females specialise in their respective statistics, and are generally lacking in the opposite.

Age
Although elves reach physical maturity at about the same age as humans, the elven understanding of adulthood goes beyond physical growth to encompass worldly experience. An elf typically claims adulthood and an adult name around the age of 100 and can live to be 750 years old.
Alignment
Elves love freedom, variety, and self-expression, so they lean strongly toward the gentler aspects of chaos. They value and protect others’ freedom as well as their own, and they are more often good than not. The drow are an exception; their exile into the Underdark has made them vicious and dangerous. Drow are more often evil than not.
Size
Elves range from under 5 to over 6 feet tall and have slender builds. Your size is Medium.

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Keen Senses
You have proficiency in the Persuasion skill.
Languages
You can speak, read, and write Common and Elvish. Elvish is fluid, with subtle intonations and intricate grammar. Elven literature is rich and varied, and their songs and poems are famous among other races. Many bards learn their language so they can add Elvish ballads to their repertoires.
