Homebrew Brownie Species Details
One day I woke up an all my shoes were polished, their laces replaced and tied in the most neat bows. It meant so much to me as a working mother as well a working my days as a maid in the Lords palace coming to a pot of stew bubbling on my stove was surly a blessing sent by the Gods. I am humbled to have our invisible little helper in the house.
Brownies choose households to help often choosing good families that look to be struggling. They often go unnoticed and unthanked but it is their pleasure to help out those in need. Every once in awhile their little deeds do draw attention and sincere gratitude.
Kindness Goes a Long Way
Kindness is the fundamental state of a Brownie it is their driving force it can also help elongate their lifespan a happy and helpful brownie can easily live to over 150. They do their work without thanks or gratitude but they do get angry and bitter when they see hostile behaviour. This can provoke the brownie and it will transform into a boggart, a horrible grotesque ratlike creature that is extremely selfish and violent it will often pursue the ill-behaved being it has encountered and frenzy them. It is possible to calm a boggart through food or a kind gesture. Brownies can also assume this form if there is not a supply of food and they are hungry. There have been infestations of boggarts in abandoned villages in the past though they are often mistaken for large rats as they have been in their boggart form for so long.

Brownie Names
Race Names
Brownies name themselves usually after their favourite things. Be it a twig, kettle, leaf or spoon. Some adopt names they have heard before in the material plane from various races.
Family Names: Brownies do not have family names but some pride themselves if they have served a family in the material plane for a long time by adopting their surname as a badge of honour.
Brownie Traits
Your brownie character has the following racial traits.Ability Score Increase
Your Dexterity score increases by 2, and your Charisma score increases by 1.
Age
Brownies reach maturity by age 4 but live as long as 80 years old sometimes into their hundreds if they have been around a lot of kindness.
Alignment
Brownies seek good homes to help they would often find the poorer or less wealthy families to help before helping those that can afford maids and house staff. This would lead them to assume good or neutral aliments but in the efforts of light trickster fun, they would lean more to chaotic.
Speed
Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Size
Brownies are between 1 and 2 feet tall and weigh between 10 and 30 pounds. Your size is Tiny.
Darkvision
Darkvision. You have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern colour in darkness, only shades of grey
Fey
You are Fey you are immune to charmed and cannot be magically put to sleep.
Brownie Craft
You can cast Mending and Prestidigitation and can cast it 3 times a day without material cost, it takes a long rest to replenish. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for them. These spells help brownies with their usual chores cleaning and fixing items in houses.
Hidden
You gain advantage on stealth check due to your size when you use partial cover, slightly obscured, or hiding behind a creature larger than yourself. As a bonus action, you can magically turn invisible until the start of your next turn or until you attack, make a damage roll, or force someone to make a saving throw. Once you use this trait, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest.
Fey Step
Like most fey creatures you can cast Misty Step without cost once a day, replenishes after a short or long rest.
Boggart Form
When provoked you can transform into a boggart once a day for up to 5 hours. Boggarts are stronger than Brownies and gain +2 to strength they also take a -2 to charisma rolls. You gain the attacks bite and claw. As a boggart, they will assume temporarily assume Neutral to evil Alignments. You lose your proficiency with weapons. You also become extremely hungry once you eat a meal you return to your Brownie form.
Gluttonous. You need to eat more than the average humanoid and more regularly or risk transforming into a Boggart. This will use your once per day transformation. Roll a percentile in times of stress, above 90% results in transformation. Reduce the percentile 10% every 3 hours if you have not eaten
Languages
You can read and write Common, Sylvan. You know the spoken and hand gesture language; Smallfolk that is typically spoken by pixies, sprites and brownies. You may learn 1 other language if you served in a material plane town or village.
