Homebrew Steve's Immortal Monkeys Species Details

One day, Steve felt kind of bored. He wasn't sure what he could do with his time, but while he was watching a nature show on a viewing box an idea came to him. 

"Monkey."

With that, he recalled a story of an immortal monkey named Sun Wukong, and drew inspiration from there. He went to the material plane to get a few monkeys, then ran some (morally questionable) tests and experiments on them. The end result was a new race, which he called "Steve's Immortal Monkeys", claiming to have no better ideas. He released his new creations into the world and allowed them to roam freely.

"Unkillable"

Steve believed that the monkeys he was about to create should also possess immortality. He decided there were three ways he could try to do this: 

Make them undead

Ask the life goddess for help

Try to do it himself and hope for the best

He chose option 3. This resulted in what he wanted, to an extent. However, many of the more fleshy monkeys were left without the benefits possessed by the undead ones. Steve had intended for both of them to have the benefits of undeath, but he messed up somewhere and was too lazy to fix it.

Anarchistic Nature

Steve's immortal monkeys have no organized societies or laws yet, as they have only recently come into existence in Axalon. They mostly spend time wandering through forests, dungeons, the underdark, or wherever they may find themselves. They tend to be rebellious, following only their own morals (or lack thereof) with little respect to the laws, thoughts, opinions, or feelings of others. Above all, they strive for personal freedom, and will attempt to strike down anyone who imposes upon that. They will fight and die for the values they hold true, and their opinions are not easily changed. Occasionally, groups of them may ally themselves to pursue a common goal, or smite that which opposes their beliefs. For example, a group of them may attack a village because it supports slavery, or defend that village for the same reason.

Immortal Monkey Names

Steve's immortal monkeys are often created with no given names. As a result of this, they often choose names for themselves based on words they find interesting, or fitting to their character. An immortal monkey might choose to call himself "Tree", while another would call herself "Richard". They tend to pick names they think sound nice and do not often conform to the gendered names of other races.

Steve's immortal monkeys possess the following traits and features, and additional ones based on your variant.

Ability Score Increase

 Your Dexterity score increases by 2.

Age

Steve's immortal monkeys are adults from creation, and do not die of age.

Alignment

Steve's immortal monkeys tend towards chaotic alignments, valuing themselves and their ideals above all else.

Size

Steve's immortal monkeys can be anywhere from 2'6" to 6'. If you are under 5' tall, your size is small. If you are 5' or taller, your size is medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet. You also have a climb speed of 30 feet.

Agile

You gain proficiency in the Acrobatics skill. Additionally, you have advantage on Dexterity (Acrobatics) checks.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and two extra languages of your choice.
