Homebrew Chomper Species Details
Inhabiting rainforests and mountains, choppers like to avoid the civilizations of other sentient creatures, living solitary, simple lives. They catch their prey by burrowing towards them, then bursting out and swallowing them. This hunting strategy is less affective when the Chomper is hunting humanoids or other large prey. For these targets, the chomper usually surprises them, overwhelming them with sheer brute force. Because of their lack of appendages, choppers are unable to create or use tools, but this doesn’t mean that they are stupid. They have surprising amounts of intellects, and their minds can hold memories for much longer than other sentient creatures.

Your lack of appendages means you cannot use tools or weapons, but you do not need to rest. You still gain all the benefits of the rest, but don’t need to sleep or become inactive.
Jaws
Your toothy maw is a natural weapon. When you hit with it, you deal 2d6 plus your strength modifier. You are considered proficient with unarmed strikes.
Swallow
You can use your edition to swallow a small or smaller creature, instantly killing it. After that, you must wait a turn before using the attack action due to the amount of time it takes to swallow the victim. Use this action only once per long rest.

Posted Oct 4, 2023The second part of "Plant Nature" is concerning when it comes to balance. Since it says you don't have to become inactive, does that mean at any time you decide to gain the benefits of a long rest, with the only limit being the once-per-day limit? That would be op enough, but after a little bit I realized the wording could mean it also applies to short rests. There is no limit to how often you short rest except, normally, the time it takes to complete. A warlock who can short rest at will is super overpowered.
