Homebrew Tengu Species Details
Often living solitary lives or in small collections within secluded mountain regions or commonly on the Elemental plane of Air, Tengus have a diluted demonic origin that sources itself from the Abyssal and Infernal planes, pure Tengus have a very demonic appearance of red skin and are more akin to devils then humans. While long having since diverged from their original forms they still retained their powers. Mischievous tricksters by nature these powerful yokai have mastery over the wind and its forces, with their innate magic and blinding speeds both on the ground and in the air they make for deadly foes and resilient allies. Tengu life is often rather rigid and full of traditional ways and mindsets. However for those of their race who broke off and returned to their more demonic origins often place these values below person freedoms. These freelancers often tend to be chaotic, unpredictable, and at times dangerous, often playing tricks on travelers or impersonating priests while traditional Tengus typically lean more towards lawful and neutral alignments.
