Homebrew Dark Pact Undead Species Details

"You’re searching for power, I know. Just like many others you come seeking the power over life and death. I am the master of death. However very few know there is a price. Death is a veil which surrounds the soul, if you want to take it away, you have to wear it yourself. I can share  that power with you.”

Corpse Star, the Dark Power with which you have sworn your pact, considers themselves master over life and death. As their hopeful Champion, you have been changed to exist between these two states as an embodiment of this power.

Dark Pact Undead Traits

Undeath comes with its share of benefits and disadvantages. The necrotic energies flowing through provide for some interesting effects.

Undeath

Raised from the dead as a being of undeath, you count as an undead creature for all spells and abilities that affect the undead. You are immune to disease and treat exhaustion as if it was one level less. You do not need to eat or breathe, but you can ingest food and drink if you wish. Instead of sleeping, you enter into an inactive state state for 4 hours each day. You do not dream in this state; you are fully aware of your surroundings and notice approaching enemies and other events as normal.

Past Life

Choose another living race besides this one. Before your death you were a member of this race and appear as an undead version of it. your size, height, and movement speed are the same as a typical member of that race. you do not retain special movement (Swimming, Flying), and, though you may choose to have formerly been member of a sub-race of a particular race, you derive no benefits from doing so.

Darkvision

Through the necromantic energy animating you, you are able to perceive with greater clarity that which lurks in the darkness. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. you can't discern color in darkness, only shades of grey.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write the languages you knew in your past life.

Undead Immortality

You do not age, given time the necrotic energies that sustain you will heal most wounds you take at approximately the same rate as a mortal, and your hit dice function as normal.

Undead Vitality

Your lack of pain reception allows you to shrug off some attacks. Your Constitution score is increased by 2.

Undead Resilience

You are immune to poison damage and the poisoned condition.

Eerie Presence

If you want, you can give off a unsettling, spine-shivering presence that effects everyone in a 30 ft radius around you. granting you a +5 bonus to Intimidation. However, this somewhat hints towards your unnatural state, though it does not instantly give away what you truly are. Therefore you receive a -5 penalty to Deception on checks concerning your identity. It can be used to clear out rooms and intimidate others around you. Use it wisely though, if the wrong person catches on to the truth then you may find yourself regretting it. Can only be used once after a short rest.

Feared

Your mortally challenged appearance strikes fear into the hearts of the living. Most will flee from you, and braver souls may attack you. You must conceal your visage from society if you wish to accomplish anything.

Withering Touch

Your unarmed strike deals ranged cold damage, as well as additional damage equal to your Constitution modifier.
