Homebrew Asura Species Details
Origin:
Creation:
The Asura were not born, evolved or created by godly means. No the Asura clan was born from two Pools, One of Blood and One of Decay. This Monstrosity of a lake consumed and drained all creatures and people who dared to enter it's ever clear Malachite waters. Rocks forming teeth like crags down in the bottom of the pools tear asunder whatever remains of the poor souls who enter the pools. Seaweed like plants latch to the creatures that walk to far in, and whatever creatures developed in the waters latch and drag anyone else who won't leave the shores. A long time ago, before the races reached a semi-harmonious relationship the region was plagued by war. Bodies were continuously dumped into the lake for it's ability to dismantle the corpses and was used regularly to clean up battlefields. Soon it's waters began to collect more than the shoreline could hold. As it's waters started to overflow, the ecosystem it created started to falter as it's creatures and plants attempted to spread on the trickling waters. Unable to claim or drain anything outside it's shallows the Lake realized it needed something to spread it's waters. To extend its reach and sate its newfound hunger. Unable to evolve any of the simple creatures inhabiting its waters to do it's bidding the Lake thought of creating it's own species to make it's desires reality. Many experiments later and different types of water creatures unable to leave the waters for long all but discouraged the Lake, until one day when the Lake gathered enough energy to create the Asura. The Asura, Humanoids who possessed the power of the Lake, born of Rage left behind by those of the fallen the lake had absorbed. However it could only create one at a time every 500 years, however the war of the races the Asura never lived much longer than a few hundred. This made things difficult for the Lake, but it continued with its plan.
Evolution:
Before the Asura were only a creature of war, raging across battlefields tearing apart armies after armies, spreading the waters of the lake across the battlefields. Unable to tame their rage, the continued in this fashion until they died of exhaustion or of blade or spell. Every time one fell the Lake absorb the body of it's fallen and use it's gained knowledge to make the Asura better. Trial and error for a few thousand years as the wars of Mankind raged on, until one century when the wars stopped. Feeling purposeless the Asura began Raiding towns, fighting monsters, anything to help keep them feeling alive. Until one day the Asura named Ahura just did nothing, He sat so still for Centuries that Humans viewed him as a Statue, and he watched. Watched the humans build their towns, cities, roads, tools, relationships, for centuries he watched. Until he realized the rage inside him was gone, and replaced was curiosity. Curiosity overwhelmed Ahura making him watch the Humans with relentless attention. That was until the village was raided......by an Asura, unable to shake the dust off of his joints Ahura watched in Horror as the Asura tore apart the Village and killed all the people within it. As the Flames begun eating at the trampled homes of the People Ahura had watched, the Asura at fault began dumping the Lake's water into the Fountains and wells of the town. That was when Ahura learned that the rage wasn't dead within him, as he stared at the Asura, his kinsmen, he felt the world turn red and he destroyed the Asura. He soon gathered all the people of the town and his Kinsmen and brought them back to the lake. As he carried the last person, the Asura into the Waters he offered himself to the Lake. The Lake took everything the Asura had learned and the life force of the town to bring two Aura’s into being. The first resembled Ahura, with big curious eyes and so he was named, the Second Resembled more the Asura the Lake had created previously, however the lake could tell it was clever. More Clever than any it made previously. As the Lake saw this it named him Daevas, in honor of the clever devils ruling the waters deep within it's own core.
Born of Chance:
As the Great Lake grew in power it can still only bless two children with the abilities of the full Asura every 100 years. Most Asura are born solely with their longevity lifespans and have few Asura within the actual villages. Villagers tend to resemble a that of a carved and painted Human. They named themselves after those in which they are descendent, and Asura became known as a title of a blessed baby born of the fully gifts of the Asura. Every 100 years all newly made mothers gather at the edge of the shallows and float their children down the Lake. When the Lake has Chosen an Asura the baby is then pulled beneath the waters and has it limbs removed and replaced by armaments. Asura no longer possess the ability to breed as soon as their human like kin were born the Lake determined that was no longer a needed feature.
Divine Strength:
As Asura are gifted with new limbs from the combined power of the fallen from the Pools of the Ancestors they possess beyond average strength and speed. Most Asura are walking by their 2nd week of life and are put into combative/Magical lessons shortly after.
Divine Armaments:
As their arms and legs are blessings from the fallen they possess special abilities. Most of the Daevas are know for have 3 sets of arms and Legs. While the Ahura are known to possess three Heads allowing them to cast 3 spells in a single action. As these were given as blessings most of the Ahura use their Divine mode to heal the fallen soldiers and are more capable with Healing and assistance magic as opposed to their warlike brethren. As you would assume the Daevas use their divine state for additional attacks, boosted speed, and counter attacks
Daevas Heritage:
The descendants of Daevas deemed that the only way to honor the Lake is with the Blood of the Greatest Warriors. As such the Daevas go forth and search for worthy challengers, as with every strong warrior brought back to the waters have their physical prowess added to the pool and prove greater potential of stronger children in the future. They're apart of every war, battle, skirmish, tournament, and training regiment in the world. As their brethren gathered more bookish knowledge what the Daevas gathered was military and combative thing to know. The know every fighting style, have practiced heavily with every weapon, consorted with powers that granted them more combative abilities than the Ahura thought possible. But their need to be the best and strongest was as great a part of them as the curiosity in Ahura's. When they do find someone worthy of facing if the battle doesn't end in death they offer them a drink of the Lake Water they keep as an emergency Healing potion. As the water is toxic to most races if the chosen warrior survives the waters they are accepted as an honorary Asura and are welcomed to their village, and have all the rights that every Daevas has.
Vengeful War God:
The Daevas are viewed as war gods no matter what race is looking at them, but it can be seen with their ferocity in battle. Using tooth and nail against hordes of enemies, finding their only enjoyment in finding an actual worthy opponent. The Daevas seek to be the best however there have been times where the Daevas have lost the fight. In such occasions the Daevas will continue to fight, over and over and over again until either the Daevas die, or win and sometimes the fight will end in both. When they loose the Daevas go into a type of obsessive rage, where the only one they want to fight is the one they lost to. It becomes such a frantic state of rage that sometimes other Daevas will kill the enraged Daevas. In the Worst situations the rage consumes so much of the Daevas that they will rip open their own guts to not only end their suffering but to quiet the rage. The burden of winning against the foe they could not falls upon their children. as with every generation of Asura they grow stronger.
Ahura Heritage:
Unlike their warlike brethren the Ahura are more attuned to Magic and revered it's more practical users than it's War Obsessed Kin. Born with a natural curiosity, they find the only thing worth gathering is knowledge and as such they travel to great lengths to get it. From Spells to historical parchments the Ahura can be seen all over the world gaining as much knowledge as they can. They honor the Great Lake by performing timely rituals, the rituals themselves are such a Priority on an Ahura's mind that they have often stopped midconversations to begin their prayers. However due to their Mighty influence on the academic life their home village became a sanctuary of Knowledge. Until proven of Worth to the Leader of the Ahura however no races were allowed to step foot into the village. It was considered a great blessing to be allowed in and once a scholar has been let in, it is said the Library is so impressive that most scholars die before they get a chance to read half of it.
Purifying Rage:
The Ahura are not able to go into a murderous frenzy like their kinsmen instead when a Ahura goes into a rage a mist begins surround the area as steam radiates off of their bodies. When the mist gets thick enough with an opening of their mouth they ignite the area in a cleansing Green flame burning all within the mist. This can include the Ahura, which is why they only use it as a last ditch effort. After the ignition however the Ahura enters a trancelike calm as they expelled all the rage within their bodies.
Attitudes and Philosophies:
All Asura revered the Great Lake as though it is a God, and pay homage to it in different ways. The Ahura bring the Great Lake knowledge and pray to it in regular intervals. The Daevas instead bring the Great Lake Combative skills and enemies worthy of it's blessed waters and pray to it before every battle.
Typical Ahura Prayer:
"As the waters of life blessed my mind so shall I bless the waters with my mind at the end of my journey. May the journey bring the knowledge I desire to learn and may the Great Lake be pleased. Blessed be the Waters of Knowledge and forever shall they Flow in my mind."
Typical Daevas Prayer:
"The Water of Life Courses through my blood so may it be spilt in Glory and vengeance. Brandished upon the weapon that robbed my blood from me. Soaked to the soil and soon brought home to the Waters of Blood. Give truth to my children to grow from my loss and raise glory in my name"
