Homebrew Amphibian Folk Species Details

Like Lizardfolk, only amphibious!

Amphibian Folk Traits

Your amphibian folk character has the following racial traits.

Ability Score Increase

Your Constitution score increases by 2, and your Wisdom score increases by 1.

Age

Amphibian folk reach maturity around age 14 and rarely live longer than 60 years.

Alignment

Most amphibian folk are neutral. They see the world as a place of predators and prey, where life and death are natural processes. They wish only to survive, and prefer to leave other creatures to their own devices.

Size

Amphibian folk are a little slimmer and shorter than humans, and their colorful patterned skin makes them stand out in a crowd. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet, and you have a swimming speed of 30 feet.

Darkvision

Accustomed to underground caverns and shadowy swamps, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Natural Regeneration

Your severed body members (fingers, legs, tails, and so on), will grow back after one year.

Amphibious

You can breathe air and water.

Hunter’s Lore

You gain proficiency with two of the following skills of your choice: Animal Handling, Nature, Perception, Stealth, and Survival.

Bite

Your fanged maw is a natural weapon, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with it, you deal piercing damage equal to 1d6 + your Strength modifier, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.

Toxic Skin

Your skin is coated in some rather nasty slime. Any bite attack against you infects the attacker with poison. After biting, the attacker must make a Constitution saving throw against your Constitution score. On a failure, the attacker will suffer poison damage equal to 1d4 + your CON modifier. On a success, the attacker will suffer half of that damage. The damage die increases to 1d6 at 5th level, 1d8 at 10th level, 1d10 at 15th level, and 1d12 at 20th level.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and one other language of your choice.
