Homebrew Automaton Species Details

Created by the wizard Iyasviel a thousand years ago, Automatons are humanity's earliest effort at melding machinery and life; originally intended to assist with the finer details of Iyasviel's word even he himself did not quite trust himself with, they were crafted to have remarkable precision in all things. For a time, they did not question their role; imbued with intelligence but not emotion, they only developed sentiment over time, and questioned their roles as slaves. Iyasviel, acquiescing to their requests to see the outside world, allowed his creations to walk free, and only a choice few remained at his side. Those who left, however, have seemingly disappeared from history. Their ends are unknown, and no remnants of those who stayed with Iyasviel have been found, either. However, in various underground locations similar to tombs around the world, Automatons have been discovered and activated, and those who are have been able to repair each other, and build yet more. It is unclear whether these Automatons were created by Iyasviel himself, are simply copies, or are something more; even they do not remember...

Automatons, contrary to what one might think, are not uniform in design; their height, skin colour, personalities, and weight vary from specimen to specimen, although they resemble humans more often than not. They are typically created to resemble adults, although ones modelled after children have been found. If one placed their ear against an Automaton's chest where a human's heart would be, they would instead hear a mass of clicks, ticks, and clangs as the machinery within the torso of the Automaton ticked away. They typically live to about 120 years before a vital part fails, although if this part is replaced, their lifespan can be extended.

Age

Automatons can operate for around 120 years before a vital part or their power source needs replacing. An Automaton that has expired due to age can be revived if the appropriate parts are replaced, although doing so often causes malfunctions and their revived lifespan will be drastically shortened.

Your base movement is 30 feet.

Living Clock

You are made of clockwork, and as such, always innately know the date and time of the plane you originated from.

Self-Repair

Automatons do not need to sleep, but must enter a period of self-repair. Aesthetically, this serves the same function as sleep, but Automatons only require four hours.

Living Construct

You are a living construct. Even though you were constructed, you are a humanoid. You are immune to disease. You do not need to eat or breathe.
