There is no exact time a seedling turns from a seedling into its wizened state, it could be months, years, or decades. But there is a point within the lifespan of a sentient plant where it comes to terms with the world around it and by mortal standard it now an "adult"

You have no grasp on the feelings and politics of the world around you. Each Verdu may come into the world hateful, joyous, or uncaring. That is up to the individual's decision; whether to hate the world for urbanization, love the world what natural beauty still remains. A Verdu may gain fulfillment from something another despises. A Verdu's philosophies are shaped only by its experiences. Since Verdou are more communal than other Verdu, they may pass on hates and loves from one to another, but it is still mostly up to the individual's opinion that shape its character. 

Being living plant matter, you require no nutrition from physical means, other than water. If you spend at least one hour outside, you gain all nutritional requirements for the day. However, you are still able to eat, under circumstances where there is no sun, or no means of light that provides sunlight (like that of the daylight spell) your body can adapt itself to be nourished off materials such as meats, dairies, grains, and plant life.
