Homebrew Dhampir Species Details

Born in dark alleys and shadowy deals, Vampires were once living. But, even they sometimes can cheat the natural order, and bring life where there should be none. Dhampires are the spawn of Vampires, the beating of their hearts coming from their other, living parent.

Dhampir Traits

As a Dhampir, you gain the following traits.

Ability Score Increase

Dark, thoughtful, and exuding presence, Dhampir naturally enhance certain characteristics. Your Intelligence and Charisma both increase by 1.

Size

Vampires are about the same size and build as humans. Your size is Medium.

Speed

You have a walking speed of 30 feet.

Darkvision

Thanks to your heritage, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Blood Thirst

You can drain blood and life energy from a willing creature, or one that is grappled by you, incapacitated, or restrained. Make a melee attack against the target. If you hit, you deal 1 piercing damage and 1d6 necrotic damage. The target’s hit point maximum is reduced by an amount equal to the necrotic damage taken, and you regain hit points equal to that amount. The reduction lasts until the target finishes a long rest. The target dies if this effect reduces its hit point maximum to 0. For every seven days that you do not regain hp using this feature, you gain a point of exhaustion that remains until you drink.

Enemy of the Light

Your heritage makes you weak to the light. You are vulnerable to radiant damage. While in sunlight, you gain disadvantage on ability checks, and if a spell heals you, you instead take damage equal to the healing dealt.

Creature of the Night

You are one with the darkness that shelters you. You have resistance against necrotic damage. In addition, you do not need to sleep. You may instead gain the effects of a long rest by entering a meditative state for 4 hours. You can hear regularly while in this state, but cannot see. However, you do not automatically regain any missing hit points while long resting. You regain half your hit dice, and may recover hp regularly using these during short rests.

Languages

As a Dhampir, you know Common and a language of your choice.
