Elves are known for their ability to create magical tomes, history books, and archives of many different languages and importance. Some of these books are so important that protection of the information within is utmost key. but how do you keep a book from being stolen? Why, you give it a guardian! how do make a loyal guardian for a book? you use the book itself! at least, that's how Highelves do it. A Body surrounding a book made out of the books information and arcane potential, that is an Archive. A living servant made of information and loyalty to their author. Depending on the book's information, the Archive's appearance and skills will differ. But all are loyal to those who created them, or in rare cases, the person that holds the book they are to guard. if you hold their book, an archive is yours to control, contort, and change. If the book is every destroyed, the archive is destroyed as well.

Archives are servants to Highelves, some are given jobs and work freely or alongside their authors, but many are Servants, or in others eyes, slaves to the highelves. Their Hair is made of long strips of parchment, their skin being that of canvas, and their features being painted on or created magically. There is many items used to adjust or fix these Magical Constructs, items to revert them to their first creation, allowing them to be bound to a new author, ways to fix unwanted markings, burns, or stains, as well as ways to adjust their forms manually. they are Creations, they are servants, their future lies in their authors hands.

Personality

Archives are very open to suggestion and loyal to their masters. When first created they are empty, ready to be taught how to properly be their masters servant. however, an older Archive may be persnickety or very exact about how things are completed. After all, things must be perfect for master!

Archives live to please those around them. they are usually very easily told what to do, and easily impressed upon. they follow and listen attentively to the one they call master. There are however some archives that gain the ability to think for themselves, or even an unhealthy attachment to their master, many falling in love with their masters. the ones the gain sentience usually run away and become workers or simply try to become a free person. its rather hard though as they are only seen as tools and property.

Quirks

Archive Quirks

d8 Quirk
1 You analyze — out loud — the potential threat posed by every creature you meet.
2 You often misread emotional cues.
3 You love explaining things to people and never pass up an opportunity to teach someone arcana, science, or history!
4 You do not understand eating and drinking and find it disgusting, or you assume you must need to do it too and your pages/skin are stained with grease and ale.
5 You correct others when they speak improperly. A lot is two words, not one!
6 You don’t understand clothing beyond its utility and assume it displays a person’s function. a badge means a person of high respect! a pointed hat means a magically inclined person!
7 You are obsessed with your appearance and constantly clean and bleach your pages.
8 obedience is all that makes sense to you, you wait until someone gives you a task, if you have no task you simply sit and follow the one you listen to.

Projection of knowledge

When touching a mundane book, you may, as a bonus action, create a small illusionary projection of the knowledge, information, or story inside. the illusion can cover a 15 by 15 ft radius, and the only sound available is sounds you yourself can create with your mouth.

Origami

Archive's are made of paper, and have the ability to fold and twist said paper to mimic or change their shape. you may fold your body into a movable shape that appears like origami. This is at the Dm's digression. you are encouraged to find an actual origami fold and show it to your DM before you change shape. Based on the shape you turn into, you gain certain bonuses and aspects. Talk to your DM about what you would gain from certain folds.
