Homebrew Bugfolk Species Details
Bugfolk are a race if insectoids that walk the world as mortals. They come in many shapes and sizes, and follow a strange culture. Bugfolk come from the Feywild, and the ones we have now are merely a byproduct of centuries of evolution and change to cope with the modern civilized world. They mostly live in where their real world counterparts do, Bees live in large, colossal hives that live in an eternal matriarchy. Spiders have webs that word as their lairs, and live as hunters that cannibalize their own species.
Dangerous Wilds
The wilds are always dangerous, even more so for Bugfolk heavy country. As a more primitive species, they tent to exclusively stick to being hunter and gatherers. This leads to many conflicts between clans/groups of Bugfolk. Hunting also provides much more of a dangerous experience for Bugfolk, as cannibalism is much more common in their species. Being caught alone against a stronger foe, such as a Skitterer being caught by a Tank, death is usually imminent.
Because of this, Bugfolk are no strangers to group tactics and clans. These Clans normally only occur with one species of Bugfolk at a time. For instance an Ant colony wouldn't allow a fly or beetle in their ranks. The primitive food chains of regular bugs also carries over to Bugfolk, namely that spiders still rule most of the Bugfolk, being stronger and having lethal traps in the forms of webs.
The Great Outers
Bugfolk universally worship the world around them as a god, as it provides for them in all the ways they need. This leads to their normal hate of advanced civilization, because of this they normally act distastefully to the other settlers of the world. They won't go out of their way to hunt Elves or Humans, but prey is prey to them, and they normally won't miss out on the opportunity of an easy meal that wondered into the wrong side of the woods. However they do have a predators mindset, and unless they are protecting their territory they won't fight to the death, survival is their top priority.
