Homebrew Dirae (Erinyes Tiefling) Species Details

While the Dirae are indeed Tieflings, they lack the monstrous features and colouring that their Infernal or Demonic cousins are identified with. Born from the Fallen Angels known as the Erinyes, they appear as their mothers do; beautiful and graceful, full of charm and personality.
They have no tails, but instead a set of gorgeous wings spanning at adulthood up to 16 ft. At birth these wings are a vibrant crimson, and darken as they age to a deep midnight black in their twilight years.
True to their heritage, their most dominant feature cannot be hidden by spells, and no matter what form they take through magical means their wings will always take to the new form and be visible unless hidden by more mundane forms.
The only true telling of a more Devilish past are small horns, usually easily hidden in their hair. These can appear either in ebony or ivory, and will normally not exceed 1 - 2 inches in length.

As with their human half, the Dirae can have a range of colouring from pale alabaster white to a deep dark tan, with hair to match and eyes from a glowing red, violet or blue.

Due to not only their appearance but their bloodline as well, the Dirae usually find themselves welcomed where other Tieflings may be shunned or seen with suspicion. Their natural charisma, beauty and grace gives them a great advantage when dealing with others.

Dirae (Erinyes Tiefling) Traits

Racial Traits

Fallen Angel

The human dilution of your Infernal bloodline means you must grow and strengthen your ability for flight while on the prime material plane.

  • At levels 1-3 you have control of the movement of your wings, but cannot manage flight.
  • From level 4, you can fly for one (1) minute, with a flight speed of 20 FT per long rest.
  • At level 8 your speed increases to 30 FT.
  • Reaching level 12 allows you to use your wings two (2) times for ten (10) minutes per long rest. Additionally, you gain the ability to carry small items or individuals during your flight.
  • At level 16 you have enough strength and skill to fly three (3) times for one (1) hour per long rest. Your speed increases to 40 FT, and you can choose to carry a medium sized item or individual for the duration but suffer a point of exhaustion should you do so. No penalty for anything considered small.
  • When you reach level 19, you have mastered the full use of your wings. You can fly at will, and through your skill and agility gain advantage on all melee attacks against creatures that can also fly.

(Should your adventures take you to the Infernal planes, you will have full and unhindered use of your flight at any level.)
