Homebrew Buraar Species Details
“Oy Comrade!” Boris Bogonov turned around as he heard the shout, recognizing his brother-in-arms. Boris set down his venison and greataxe, running up to his monstrous friend. "You're wounded," stated Boris noticing the chunk of his comrade's leg that was missing. He lifted up his companion and started off to the camp. "Let's get you some help.”
Camps with the smell of cooking meat, and the sound of deep voices laughing around the fire, always trying to make the most of life and enjoy themselves, embracing the wild side and living in the wilderness. These attributes are some that all Buraar share.
Ursa Ancestry
The Buraar race was an accidental mutation caused when an ancient elven druid was experimenting with bears. They quickly multiplied and gained intelligence, spreading across the globe as seen today.
Buraar are slightly larger than their bear ancestors, with their size depending on the type of bear they are descended from. However, they prefer to stand on two legs and only revert to their ancestral quadrupedal life when needing to get somewhere fast. Physical attributes are not the only thing that was passed down from bears. They retain the same vicious nature and motherly loyalty to cubs.
Short Life, Make the Most of It
Buraar cubs mature around the age of ten and seldom live over seventy years of age. This gives them a unique perspective of life not shared by other races. They understand that they are not meant to live longer, and don't go off searching for immortality like foolish humans.
Buraar know that they do not have much time in this world, so they try to never waste it. A Buraar will never be late, and is usually early. They also try to have fun when they can, they think that happiness, and joy are the meaning to life.
Camps and Comrades
Buraar live in camps which home fifty to one-hundred Buraar. Each camp has a central fire where the camp leader sits and it is where her offices are. All who report findings, and seek counsel with the camp leader do so at the central fire. There are also many other fires around the camp where smaller groups can commune. Buraar sleep in giant tents which can hold 4-6 Buraar at the maximum. A Buraar camp is where Buraar set their roots, if one leaves the camp to adventure, then they will always end up at their home camp to settle down.
The leader of the Buraar camp is always the oldest female. This one is known as the Ubar Magur, or in common, the Holy Mother. The Ubar Magur has the authority to move the camp, go to war and officiate mating. They have the final say in any argument in the camp
All Buraar that live the same camp are comrades with each other. A Buraar is always loyal to its comrades, they stand by them no matter what. If a Buraar abandons a comrade, then they are banished from the camp, and will be shamed for the remainder of their life.
