Homebrew Automatons Species Details

Automatons are fully articulated dolls, made to closely resemble humanoids, that have been animated with a soul trapped within them. However, they cannot remember their past life. Automatons are usually created to be servants, therefore they often feel as though they must be loyal to something. While they can be the perfect servant for their master, they are just as often simply lost souls looking for greater meaning in life.

Automatons Traits

Charisma +2, Wisdom +1, resistant to Necrotic damage, weak to Psychic and bludgeoning damage

Ability Score Increase

Charisma +2, Wisdom +1, resistant to Necrotic damage, weak to Psychic and bludgeoning damage

Constructed Resilience

They were created to have remarkable fortitude, represented by the following benefits:

- They have advantage on saving throws against being poisoned, and they have resistance to poison damage.

- They don’t need to eat, drink, or breathe.

- They are immune to disease.

- They don't need to sleep, and magic can't put them to sleep.

Sentry’s Rest

When they take a long rest, they must spend at least six hours in an inactive, motionless state, rather than sleeping. In this state, they appear inert, but it doesn’t render them unconscious, and they can see and hear as normal.

Decorative Shell

Their bodies are built for aesthetic rather than practical value, however their very humanoid shape allows easy use of most armours.

-When not wearing additional armour, get -1 to Armour class

-Can be proficient in all types of armour

-Body parts can be swapped out for pieces of armour or even magic items, provided that they have been altered into a Limb Attachment.

-While they live, Limb Attachments can’t be removed from their body

Reassemblance

Once per long rest, when the Automaton drops to 0 hit points, they can reassemble their body and heal for 1 hit die plus 1 more hit die for every 2 levels after 2nd.

Languages

They can speak, read, and write Common and infernal, and one other language of your choice.
