Homebrew Yuan-ti Impure (Fang) Species Details

Among the Yuan-ti castes you are the lowest of the low; the product of an unsuitable mate or raised outside Yuan-ti culture. You have emotions, cannot speak with snakes and if you can cast spells, they are other than those normally associated with Yuan-ti spell-casting abilities. Some Purebloods may consider you Yuan-ti, but most consider you meat.

Impure Personality Traits

Impure Ideals

Impure Bonds

Impure Flaws

1 I don't just feel emotions, I am overwhelmed by them. Others may find you histrionic.
2 I put too much credence in the dictates of a particular god.
3 I frequently overindulge in food and wine, and I am impaired and lethargic for days afterward.
4 I worship a forbidden god.
5 I secretly believe things would be better if I was in charge.
6 I'm a hypochondriac. I'm certain that the slightest blemish, itch or sneeze is a sure sign that I've got some deadly disease.

Fang

Among the Impure, the Fang is the most accepted within Yuan-ti society. Their canine teeth are slightly longer than normal and hollow, allowing them to deliver a venomous bite when grappling. As this distinguishing trait is serpentine in nature, other Yuan-ti consider them almost purebloods.

Outwardly they are otherwise indistinguishable from purebloods, but have neither darkvision nor the spells common to purebloods. Instead they exhibit several features normally associated with venomous serpents.

Yuan-ti Impure (Fang) Traits

Your yuan-ti Impure character — called a Fang for short — has the following racial traits.

Ability Score Increase

Your Charisma score increases by 2, and your Constitution score increases by 1.

Age

Impure mature at the same rate as humans and have lifespans similar in length to theirs.

Alignment

Impure can be of any alignment although they feign evil among other Yual-ti if their true alignment is non-evil. Fang impure tend towards chaotic alignments.

Size

Impure match humans in average size and weight. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet and you can swim at the same rate.

Preemptive Strike

The first time you are the target of a melee attack in combat, if you are not surprised and have not yet taken any actions in the combat, you may make a melee weapon attack using strength as a reaction. This reaction attack is resolved before the triggering action.

Venom

You have a poison sac in your mouth which produces a number of poison uses equal to your Constitution modifier (minimum of 1 use,) that you can use either for your blinding spittle or paralytic bite. (Your venom is ineffective if used to coat weapons.) Your poison uses recharges when you finish a short or long rest.

Your poison has a constitution save DC equal to 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier. On a successful attack with your venom the specified condition is applied to the target if its constitution is less than your poison save DC, and it is not immune to the condition or poison. An affected target can make a constitution save as a free action at the end of its turn to end a condition applied by this feature.

Magic Resistance

You have advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Poison Immunity

You are immune to poison damage and the poisoned condition.

Languages

Impure raised in Yuan-ti society can speak, read, and write Common, Abyssal, and Draconic. Impure raised elsewhere learn Common and two other languages.
