Homebrew Wooden Boy Species Details

 A master artificer wishes that his wooden toy would come to life. And, to his surprise, the wish is granted. The wooden boy rises, walks, talks, hopes and dreams just like any other boy, and yet there is one thing denied him: he is not a real boy.

Living Toy

The wooden boy is generally good natured, often naive and child-like, hoping to learn new things and spread joy, but reluctant to take up arms and fight. However, some wooden boys are twisted, cruel and depraved, warped by a harsh master. The wooden boy's origin as a plaything often lends him a need to entertain and play pranks. He forms bonds quickly, yet deeply, and is often a very close companion to another adventurer.

Wooden

The wooden boy is, obviously, made of wood. While this can grant extraordinarily long life, it often ends in a flaming demise. The boy is fragile in body, but strong in spirit. A wooden boy feels physical pain and can be killed just as any other race might, despite it's not having blood in it's veins.

A Curious Soul

A wooden boy, while probably not interested in gold or glory, may set out upon adventure to discover the new world in which he lives. His curiosity drives him. He often has a close bond with his creator, though this will not prevent him from setting out to find his own path. A wooden boy live a happy life, though the nagging desire to be a "real boy" will always pull at him, and can often drive the wooden boy to desperate or dangerous acts.

Most wooden boys are very small, between 1 and 2 feet tall, though it is possible to be bigger. The wooden boy can be anywhere from 10-30 pounds in weight.
