Homebrew Aetherborn Species Details

Aetherborn spontaneously came into being on Kaladesh as a byproduct of the aether refinement process. "Families" of Aetherborn lay territorial claim to areas where young Aetherborn have manifested and instruct them in the way of their kind. Their bodies are in constant flux, as the aether residue they're made of gradually dissolves and is reclaimed by the aethersphere. Thus, their lives are short. But rather than despair, they savor each fleeting moment, squeezing out every last drop of enjoyment. Traditionally, before an Aetherborn dies, they throw a party with mandatory attendance for their friends and associates. Aetherborn that lack such social connections usually hijack the party of another of their kind.

Aetherborn do not sleep or eat, instead focusing fully on experiencing existence. All Aetherborn have an innate sixth sense that allows them to accurately sense the emotional state of beings in a nearby perimeter.

Aetherborn have no genders and are referred to using they/them/theirs pronouns, though there are cases of individual aetherborn that adopted a gender and associated pronouns.

Aetherborn Traits

As an Aetherborn, you gain the following traits.

Ability Score Improvement

Your Charisma score increases by 2 and your Dexterity score increases by 2. 

Body of Aether

Your body is resistant to the soul withering effects of necrotic energies. You have resistance to necrotic damage. You don't need to drink, eat, sleep or breath. You are also immune to diseases.

Age

Aetherborn are not known for having long vast lives. They live anywhere from a few weeks to around 3 years. Your life expectancy is not affected by any abilities that would extend your life other then the vampiric drain. 

Size

Aetherborn can be anywhere from around 5 feet to 6 feet. Your size is medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Darkvision

Accustomed to the night, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray
