Homebrew Black Orc Species Details
Description
Black Orcs are a stronger, larger, and faster type of Orc. They are massive creatures, and the few tribes that inhabit the inhospitable lands of the world have gained notoriety for their brutal raiding tactics and imposing presence. Black Orcs are usually trained to survive from the moment they are born. When males mature, they usually join another raiding group in return for supplies for their tribe. While both female and male Black Orcs do venture out, the females predominantly defend their homes with vicious territorial tendencies.
This race is mainly made for big bad enemies, but if you really want to be a hulking monster, this is the right race for you!
Black Orc Traits
Your Black Orc character derives traits from your Orc Heritage.WAAAAAAAAAGH!
If a person fighting alongside a Black Orc yells a battle cry with enough ferocity, they have an irresistible urge to join in and will charge in with reckless ferocity, granting a primal rage state, which grants them resistance to physical non-magic attacks.
Ability Score Increase
Black Orcs are insanely strong, even by Orc standards, giving them a +4 in strength.
Black Orcs have a very tough hide, giving them a +2 to constitution, as well as a resistance to bludgeoning and slashing damage.
Black Orcs are very cunning, due to their time in harsh conditions, giving them a +1 to wisdom.
Due to little education and little capacity to learn, Black Orcs get a -2 in intelligence.
Due to their large size, they are fairly slow when trying to make quick attacks, giving a -1 to dexterity.
Age
Black Orcs mature much faster than humans, reaching adulthood around age 8. They age noticeably faster and rarely live longer than 75 years.
Alignment
Black Orcs are almost always Chaotic due to their upbringing, and tend to lean more toward evil, though many are neutral as they do things for the good of their tribe.
Size
Black Orcs are huge creatures compared to humans, usually ranging from 8-10 feet.
Speed
Due to their large size, their base speed is 40, but they need time to gain their speed and cannot turn on a dime.
Infamous
Black Orcs are renowned for their ferocity, making it so common folk are utterly terrified by them.
Darkvision
Thanks to your orc blood, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Menacing
You gain proficiency in the Intimidation skill.
Relentless Endurance
When you are reduced to 0 hit points but not killed outright, you can drop to 1 hit point instead. You can’t use this feature again until you finish a long rest.
Savage Attacks
When you score a critical hit with a melee weapon attack, you can roll one of the weapon’s damage dice one additional time and add it to the extra damage of the critical hit.
Languages
You can speak, read, and write Common and Orc. Orc is a harsh, grating language with hard consonants. It has no script of its own but is written in the Dwarvish script.
