Homebrew Dog Species Details

Domesticated canine quadrupeds, with highly variable skill sets. Keen senses and great loyalty.

Dog Traits

Four legged animals without any capabilities to wield weapons. Very good boys (and girls).

Keen Hearing and Smell

The Dog has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing or smell.

Bite

Dogs have a powerful bite rather than a traditional unarmed attack. They are naturally proficient. Biting a target deals 1d4 + your Strength modifier in damage. When you bite a target, they must succeed a Strength saving throw (DC 10 + your STR modifier) or be knocked prone.

Nonsapient

Dogs do not have sapience, therefore cannot naturally possess high intelligence. A dog's intelligence score is naturally 4.

Pack Tactics

The dog has advantage on an attack roll against a creature if at least one of the wolf's allies is within 5 ft. of the creature and the ally isn't incapacitated.

Ability Score Increase

With their doggish charm, dogs gain +2 to their Charisma.

Quadrupedal

As creatures with no arms or hands, dogs cannot equip weapons. For sake of transporting items, Dogs can grip things with their mouth; whether any given item would fit into the Dog's mouth is at the DM's discretion.
