Homebrew Corva Species Details

Corva

This race of avian folk, while similar to the Aarakocra, has a few distinct characteristics that separate them from the common birdfolk. For one thing, the corva hail from the very same earthly plane as humans and elves. They settled in the central island as Arcadia long ago and took up a very particular form of work. Drug dealing. They learned to live on the ground in order to make and sell drugs to their clients to make money. Natural selection indeed played a part in their coloring as lighter and more colorful Corva were arrested and so couldn't breed. Most all corva are different dark shades of grey and some are even dark shades of blue and purple. This allows them to blend in with the night and do the work they need to do in the shadows and alleyways. Their arms fused with their wings over time and their bones run to three of their feathers on their wings allowing them to act as fingers. Only one corva has been recorded to have left their island to live apart from the rest of the subrace. They communicate through common, aarakocra, and Corva, though they are known to learn other languages to gain more clients. Their language is mainly clicks, chirps and caws as a sort of "secret code" only they can understand. There are many more things that are unknown about this race, as they are a mystery.

Call of the stars

The Corva worship the moon and stars as a sort of religion. They will leave offerings to the night god Rhaan in hopes that he will protect them. Under every new moon they leave offerings and under every Full moon they bathe in a body of water that is naturally occurring and exposed to the moons glow. This is called a Moon Pool or Star Pool and bathing in one is equivalent to a long rest and it allows the Corva to meditate and communicate with Rhaan. The Corva get +15 speed, +5 strength, advantage on perception and stealth as well as a temporary +5 hitpoints when the moon is within it's First Quarter and Third quarter at night.
