Homebrew Bheguar Species Details

The bheguar, also known as whalefolk or sharkfolk, are the culmination of evolution underneath the seas. They are known for their lawful societies and adaptability, especially when put under the pressures of the natural world. Bheguaur are protectors or tradition, holding their values until the moment they die. If you are unlucky enough to be on the other side of a fight against a bheguar, you'll soon find out that the lawfulness of their societies fall to the wayside, as they are known to quickly become vicious beasts capable of tearing down buildings.

Lawful Society

The bheguar live for order, structure, and tradition. They live in organized, underwater tribes, and they are under the order of a chief, typically one of the Great White heritage. The title of chief is passed down to the firstborn of the existing chief, and they are trained from birth to lead. Tribes also usually have elders, who are respected for the wisdom. To become an elder, you would have to have been a member of the tribe your entire life, and have reached the age of 110.

Heritage

Every bhequar is evolved from a powerful creature of the Three Seas, a whale or shark. The specific creature in which they evolved from determines their build, abilities, and social status in their tribes. There are 8 heritage, 4 evolved from sharks, and 4 evolved from whales.

Great White	Bheguar of the Great White Heritage are the natural born leaders of their tribes. They are respected throughout the bheguar, and are known for their levelheadedness. You have the characteristics of a Great White Shark.
Hammerhead	Bheguar of the Hammerhead Heritage are large, vicious, and are counted on to protect their tribes with their lives. You have the characteristics of a Hammerhead Shark.
Tiger	Bheguar of the Tiger Heritage are small and known for being able to work through small spaces. When a tribe is at war with another tribe, Tiger heritage bheguar are sent in as spies. You have the characteristics of a Tiger Shark.
Goblin	Bheguar of the Goblin Heritage are outcasts of the tribes. They are generalized as criminals and are treated as lesser beings. You have the characteristics of a Goblin Shark.
Humpback	Bheguar of the Humpback Heritage are commonly the wisest of the tribes. They are known to be more knowledgeable about the histories of the Bheguar and are even known to live longer. You have the characteristics of a Humphack Whale.
Beluga	Bheguar of the Beluga Heritage are the artisans and entertainers of the tribes. They are leaders in the worlds of art and crafting. You have the characteristics of a Beluga Whale.
Killer	Bheguar of the Killer Heritage are the military leaders of the tribes. They are skilled in strategizing and battle technique. You have the characteristics of a Killer Whale.
Blue	Bheguar of the Blue Heritage are said to be the original evolution of the bheguar, but they have not been seen for thousands of years, as they are thought to be driven extinct during the rule of Hanfetune Surnar. You have the characteristics of a Blue Whale.

Bheguar Names

The bheguar dialect of Aquan has a large use of the letter "b", and typically uses sounds that are easy to say. The names of the bheguar follow suit, usually being about 1 or 2 syllables. These names are not specific to gender.

Ability Score Increase

Your Constitution score increases by 2, and one ability score of your choice increases by 1.

Age

Bheguar reach maturity around 15 years, and can live up to 150 years.

Alignment

Bheguar hold tradition and order to heart, so most of them are lawful good.

Size

Bheguar can range from 4 feet to 8 feet tall depending on their heritage. Your size is Medium.

Speed

You have a base walking speed of 30 feet, and a base swimming speed of 30 feet.

Evolved Mobility

Bheguar have evolved to walk in the depths of the Three Seas, and on the land. You breathe normally in air and water.

Powerful Build

You count as one size larger when determining your carrying capacity and the weight you can push, drag, or lift.

Bite

Your bite is a natural weapon, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with your bite, you deal piercing damage equal to 1d6 + your Strength modifier, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.
