Homebrew Astraltine Species Details

Stardust beings, Astraltine are found when planar forces flux and alter a mortal child. They are often shunned in their communities and become wanderers, lonely like the stars in the night sky.
Distant and Alien
Secluded wanderers, Astraltine are a rare sight, those lucky enough to glance at their forms see halos of light, colors shifting and nebulous clouds drifting from their hair and eyes. Most Astraltines maintain similar physiques to their birth parents, standing 5-6 feet tall, weighing between 200-300 pounds. However, their forms are thinner, denser. a gaunt-looking Astraltine could weigh as much as a 220 pound Blacksmith who works the forge day and night.
Astraltines have unique skin, in the sunlight, it can appear translucent, soft pastel colors are common and at night a faint glow can be seen emanating from their thinnest features. They tend to wear heavy cloaks and hoods or hats to avoid attracting attention to their fine features and alien visage.
Shortened Lives
Their seclusion and poor treatment are compounded by shorter lives. When an Astraltine dies, their body collapses into a pinpoint of light, before bursting into a nebula of light and color. they can live to become 75 but are often claimed by the dangers of the world far younger. The life of an Astraltine is measured in their final moments, the more they experience and see the more vibrant their death. Upon an Astraltines death, it is reincarnated as a star in the sky. Many look to the stars for guidance on their lonely journey, often receiving visions in answer. Calls to adventure, and interact with the races of the world, though few heed the visions.
The misfortune of the Star Touched
The Astraltine were created by the diety Selune, jealous of her creation, Shar, the goddess of darkness and loss cursed them. Shar could not completely extinguish the light in them, so she darkened their spirits. imposing loss and suffering on their very existence. Families that give birth to an Astraltine and keep it, are harried by Shar's servants, and most often leave the child, to secure their own lives.
Astraltine Names
Astraltine are often unnamed, not choosing a name until it becomes relevant or until they want to claim their own identity. They use names from any race or source, sometimes naming themselves after concepts, such as sadness or enlightenment.

Your Astraltine character has a number of Inborn abilities.Shooting Star
As a bonus action you can begin spewing a glowing radiant energy from your back to propel your forwards quickly. you can move 30 feet in a straight line in any direction. you may shoot up vertically, though you fall unless you have a method of keeping your altitude. you may use this ability a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus. Your uses reset after a Long Rest.

Alignment
Astraltine are typically neutral good, they do what they can to help those in need and try to take care of those that stay around. sometimes they will stray to neutrality or even evil, believing that their curse should affect others as well, that they alone shouldn't bear this burden.
Size
Astraltine have the same general build as their mortal parents, though typically weigh twice as much. Your size is medium.
Speed
Your base walking speed is 30 feet. Upon reaching 14th level your connection to the stars knows no parallel, you gain a flying speed of 30 feet.
Darkvision
Accustomed to the night sky, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can discern color, but only in pastel shades.
Stellar Respite
your body harnesses a modicum of energy from starlight, allowing you to stay alert from many hours. While taking a long rest you can spend 4 hours performing light activity, this includes reading, keeping watch, or any non-exerting activity.
Languages
You can speak, read, and write Common and one additional language.
Light of the stars
The radiant energy in your body can be released, pouring from your eyes, mouth, nostrils and seeping through your fingers. your hair becomes a luminous nebula and begins to float gently. You can choose to emit bright light within 10 feet and dim light for an additional 10 feet. no action required on your part.
