Awakened topiaries don't need to sleep or eat. Instead, they lapse into a semi-conscious state in the sunshine or water for 4 hours a day, to absorb requisite nutrients to sustain themselves. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit that a human does from 8 hours of sleep.

Your thorns are natural weapons, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with them, you deal slashing damage equal to 1d4 + your Strength modifier, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.
