Homebrew Aosi Species Details

Fey Origins

Aosi are related to pixies and sprites. Which one is actually their ancestor has been a matter of contention for centuries as Aosi have traits of both. They love playing tricks and fashion and art but they are not opposed to violence and will grow to (relatively) giant size, weapons in hand, ready to defend their villages. Some Aosi posit that there was a third progenitor race that spawned themselves and the sprites and pixies.

Musically Inclined

Of all artistic pursuits, Aosi love music the most. Every child is taught an instrument from an early age.

Aosi Adventurers

With their love for music, Aosi often become bards and it in in a bard's soul to wander. Aosi make natural adventurers. The world has so many things to see and do after all.

Aosi Names

Aosi have compound names that they believe describes them best. Until they are old enough to choose a name, around the same time elves choose their adult name they are referred to by nicknames.
Aosi Names: Tinkerbell, Ceesharp, Bowstring, Bumblebee, Pondskip, Cloudburst, Fluttershy, Firetide, Springbreeze.

Aosi Traits

Aosi have the following abilities

Reduce

As an action you can shrink yourself. Everything you are wearing and carrying changes size with you. Any item dropped by you returns to normal size at once. Your size is halved in all dimensions and your weight is reduced to one-eighth of the norm. This reduction decreases your size by one category. While you are tiny you have disadvantage on Strength Checks and Strength Saving Throws, and your weapons also shrink to match your new size. While these weapons are reduced, your attacks with them deal 1d4 less damage (this can't reduce the damage below 1). You can use this action again to return to normal size.

Gossamer Wings

You can use your bonus action to shape the magical energies within yourself into two luminous insectoid wings. Your transformation lasts for 1 minute or until you end it as a bonus action. During it, you have a flying speed of 30 feet. You regain the use of this trait after a short or long rest.

Fey Ancestry

You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can’t put you to sleep.

Tool Proficiency

You have proficiency with one musical instrument of your choice.
