Escaped Lab Experiments

The creation of bionic birds comes from a series of scientific experiments that were done on a flock of 30 parrots. Experiments were conducted ranging from growth enhancing drugs to bionic implants that give them opposable thumbs. While each individual bird might vary in what was done to them, the only universals are an increased size, average 4'6", and bionic implants that give an extra set of arms. Some birds have extra additions such as a sonic powered voicebox or an electronic brain that gives an eidetic memory. A natural disaster eventually struck their place of residence, allowing each of them to escape into the wilderness. Because of this, they are hunted by groups of people determined to bring them back before they can disrupt the natural enironment, alive or dead. 

A Secretive Existence

Because of their wanted status, the flock of parrots have secluded themselves within the dense forest canopy of far away lands, far from any possible contact with any other race that could potentially put them in danger. The only reason one of these parrots could be found outside of their flock is if they were barred from the group, making their presence almost mythical to those who even know anything about their existence in the first place. Due to it having been years since their intial escape, some of the birds in the flock have given birth to a new generation of parrots that share their physical characteristics, but of course none of the implants that were given to those in the laboratory. However, at this point, most of the artifical enhancements have lost their original effect, making the first generation of parrots not so different from the following ones, allowing for a relatively equal society amongst themselves. 

Bionic Parrot Names

Due to the international nature of the research team that first received the original flock of birds, they were each given a singular name by their respective handlers that typically represented the human researcher's country of origin. Among the flock of birds, names ranging from George, Javier, Philip, Kilian, Tomasz, Alexander, Niko, Zhao, to Miku are found. Due to the flock's general lack of knowledge about the human race, the names of their offspring are taken from the father with an addition of a number indicating which generation of parrot ancestry they are. For example, Manuel II or Shang IV. 

Bionic Parrot Traits

+2 Wisdom, +1 Strength, Darkvision, Sonic Screech

Darkvision

Since parrots are able to see in the dark naturally along with their enhanced biology, most parrots find themselves with superior dark vision up to 60 ft in front of them which includes the ability to discern color given the parrot has an implant. Dim lighting appears bright and no lighting appears dimly.

Sonic Screech

Due to increased size, it naturally follows that their voice boxes would also be larger. These parrots are able to articulate a screech that matches the decibel level of a gunshot in battle, causing everybody within a 30ft radius to make a Constitution saving throw for 1d8 thunder damage. This can be used once per short rest. Goes up in power by 1d8 for every 5 levels.

Ability Score Increase

Your Wisdom score increases by 2, and your Dexterity score increases by 1.

Speed

Bionic Parrots use their wings to propel themselves, enabling a walking speed of 40 ft.

Talons

Your talons are natural weapons, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with them, you deal slashing damage equal to 2d4 + your Strength modifier, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.
