Homebrew Amplified 4-Legged Goblin Species Details

Goblins are a very often misunderstood race of beings whose behavior as part of a feral wild tribe is entirely different than the same individual goblin might be if living in civilization. Sure, they all tend to be gloomy, and revel in misfortune - others, or even their own. But they're also incredibly resilient creatures with highly adaptable brains and strong survival instincts that make them natural tinkerers and - in some cases - ideal candidates for mechanical enhancements, especially if they've suffered an injury that takes away the use of their legs.

Amplified 4-Legged Goblin Traits

Your amplified goblin character has the following racial traits.

Ability Score Increase

Your Dexterity score increases by 2, and your Constitution score increases by 1.

Age

Goblins, including augmented ones, reach adulthood at age 8 and live up to 60 years.

Alignment

Goblins in the wild tend to be NE or even CE, as well as raucous, petty and unpleasant, as a defense against even larger and more aggressive humanoids, and as a way to honor their equally unpleasant deities. In secure circumstances, or on an individual basis, goblins tend towards CN or true Neutral, especially if they worship different gods than their feral brethren. As an augmented goblin requires some kind of civilized society in which to acquire the augmentations, a more neutral outlook is expected, and any alignment is possible.

Size

Amplified 4-legged Goblins sit a little higher than non-augmented ones, at 4 to 4.5 feet tall. Usually built with ultralight materials including Fibretanium and woven steel, they nevertheless are significantly heavier than the average standard goblin and weigh between 90 and 150 pounds. Your size is Medium, not small.

Speed

Your base walking speed is increased to 40 feet, and you can climb normal surfaces at a goblin's normal walking speed of 30 feet. However the redistrbution of weight, lack of flat limb surfaces and your higher center of gravity make you a terrible swimmer, with only 5 feet of swim movement under normal conditions.

Darkvision

Amplified 4-legged goblins retain their darkvision, and can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray. Truthfully goblins tend to be a little red-green colorblind even in bright light.

Spinning Fury of the Amplified

When you damage a creature with a successful melee attack, you can cause the attack or spell to deal extra damage to the creature. The extra damage equals your level. Once you use this trait, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest to recharge your power source.

Nimbler Escape

You can take the DisengageDodge  or Hide action as a bonus action on each of your turns. This reflects not only the added agility in moving through open space with four multi-articulated fibretanium legs, but also the added ducking and weaving ability achieved by selectively locking or dropping one or more legs and rapidly avoiding most blows.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and Goblin.
