Homebrew Yordle Species Details
Yordles are fey spirits, inherently connected to magic, trickery, and nature. It is unknown which god created them. They have been around as long as any other race. Their civilization has developed alongside those of the other races, often aiding them and taking part in them through use of their inherent glamour. They used to be a nomadic race, living in small tight families, but have since settled in the hidden Bandle City that resides in a plane parallel but close to the material plane. There are gateways to this dimension hidden throughout the world that only Yordles can perceive, but they can take others through with them. Due to mostly sticking amongst their own kind, many species are unaware of the existence of Yordles, or are at least suspicious of them. Due to this, Yordles have honed their connection to the trickery domain to allow them to disguise themselves as members of other races to make social interaction and mingling easier.
Yordles' physiologies are much more similar across their species than other spirits. Yordles are short in stature, rarely over a meter tall. The majority fall between 0.6 and 0.8 metres. The sexes of the species appear different from each other. Females usually appear more human, some sporting smooth skin or at the most a short covering of fur, and often have full heads of hair like humans. Their skin, hair, or fur colours are much more varied than humans though, most being a shade of blue or purple. Males of the species are often much fluffier, appearing almost like hamsters. They tend towards more tame and organic fur colours like browns, whites, or blacks. All Yordles have long, fox like ears which allow them to hear slightly better than humans. Their eye colours also very greatly. Due to the innate magic within them, Yordles have exceptionally longer life-spans than humans, reaching maturity in their 50s and often living up to 700 years. The Yordle race have shown the possibility to be amphibious.
The Yordle race have innate magic within them which helps them achieve extraordinary things usually impossible for someone of their stature. Also, they require far more social interaction with their own kind than humans do. They generally are a peaceful and amicable race, often marked with streaks of joviality and light prankishness; their moral compass is most often pointed toward goodness and benevolence. Their desire for social interaction drives them toward this ethos, as the mental health of a yordle is very much dependent on the positive company he or she keeps. This does not mean, however, that they are incapable of cruelty and evil. In fact, a yordle who is kept in isolation for too long – especially from contact with other yordles – runs the risk of becoming withdrawn and sullen. Some who already are centered more toward malevolence will become exceedingly so in due course. These yordles will often twist their desire for social interaction into a desire to seek out others to inflict pain and suffering upon them. Yordles are often attracted to external cultures, and enjoy manifesting around the ideals of other races. They tend to worship good or neutral deities that fall in the domain of trickery, magic, or nature. Morally, they tend towards chaotic good, however
