Homebrew Animus Species Details
A cursed creature constructed from their own hubris and ambition. This being is the technological and magical equivalent of a lich. The details of its construction are a closely guarded secret.
Animus Traits
Your animus character has the following racial traits.Ability Score Increase
Your Constitution score increases by 2, and your Strength score increases by 2.
Age
The maximum lifespan of an animist is theoretically infinite, as long as replacement hardware can be scavenged. These cursed beings shed failed organs with the nonchalance that others discard tattered clothing.
Alignment
Anima generally have the alignment that they had in life.
Size
Your size is Medium.
Living Construct
Even though you were constructed, you are a living creature. You are immune to disease. You do not need to eat or breathe, but you can ingest food and drink if you wish. Instead of sleeping, you enter an inactive state for 4 hours each day. You do not dream in this state; you are fully aware of your surroundings and notice approaching enemies and other events as normal.
Corpse Born
You have vulnerability to fire damage.
Undead
Your creature type is undead despite the fact you are living. You have advantage against saving throws that target undead creatures. However, like other undead, you cannot regain hit points as a result of spells like cure wounds.
Lightning Absorption
Whenever you are subjected to lightning damage, you take instead take no damage. Instead, you regain a number of hit points equal to the lightning damage dealt.
Languages
You can speak, read and write Common and one other language of your choice.
Constructed Resilience
You were created to have remarkable fortitude, represented by the following benefits:
- You have advantage on saving throws against being poisoned, and you have resistance to poison damage.
- You don’t need to eat, drink, or breathe.
- You are immune to disease.
- You don’t need to sleep, and magic can’t put you to sleep.
Integrated Protection
Your body has built-in defensive layers, which can be enhanced with armor:
- You gain a +1 bonus to Armor Class.
- You can don only armor with which you have proficiency. To don armor, you must incorporate it into your body over the course of 1 hour, during which you remain in contact with the armor. To doff armor, you must spend 1 hour removing it. You can rest while donning or doffing armor in this way.
- While you live, your armor can’t be removed from your body against your will.
Specialized Design
You gain one skill proficiency and one tool proficiency of your choice.
