Homebrew Amber Goblins Species Details

The Union of Peace and Chaos

It is unknown how Amber Goblins came to be in the world of Aedir. Stories say that the fusion happened when a Pixie and a Goblin fell in love and conceived a child with amber skin and bright red hair. However, in reality, Amber Goblins came to be mainly due to the meddling in areas where they shouldn't be, which Goblins are experts at. When a Goblin tribe first settles in an area where there is a high amount of fey influence, the first generation native to that area will have skin made of a bright amber-like color and bright red or green hair. That is the first sign of the Ambler Goblins.

Amber Goblins are much more lawful than their other Goblin counterparts. Although they still like to be chaotic, their chaos has turned from looting and stealing to playing harmful tricks on one another and passersby. In the Rivena Forests, where Amber Goblins are the most common, they are seen as a good luck charm, as it means that their journey will be safe and without harm. 

Due to their increased lifespan, Amber Goblins tend to be wise as well, as time leads to wisdom. They tend to usher the young, guiding them to be good and playful people and pray for the old, wishing them peace and prosperity in their life and their next. However, this comes with a catch, as Amber Goblins cannot reincarnate when they reach The Verge and as such they transfer themselves to the Feywild to be born again.

The Council of Brilyaghs

Every Clan of Amber Goblins is led by a Brilyagh, which is a Goblin Druid who has a connection to the local Archfey. They are incredibly powerful and due to this they are seen as the top dog in Amber Goblin Society. And while this position changes rapidly as the Archfey falls in an out of favor with specific Brilyaghs, they still have heightened senses and magical capabilities due to their Fey inheritance. Unlike their Goblin counterparts they have a much higher chance of being able to use magic above the simple cantrip. Some Amber Goblins have even risen so far to become Archdruids or Archmages as well.

Diplomatically, the Amber Goblins have trade with the other settlements around them and teach them druidic practices and traditions. They especially get along with the Firbolgs and the Satyrs of the Rivena Forests as they also have Fey influence as well, and they swap stories of tricks they played on others and share their knowledge. Many wouldn't turn down an Amber Goblin's advice or wisdom. Many if they acclimate to city life become librarians or fortune tellers, as their long lifespans tend to lead them to searching for knowledge or purpose in this world.

 

 

 

Amber Goblins Traits

Your goblin character has the following racial traits.

Ability Score Increase

Your Dexterity score increases by 2 and your Wisdom increases by 1.

Age

Due to having Fey Inheritance, Amber Goblins live much longer than their other Goblin counterparts. They mature at the age of 30 and usually live around the same time as an Elf.

Alignment

Most Amber Goblins tend to stay on their chaotic side, but are not evil like their Goblin copunterparts. Most Amber Goblins align themselves as Chaotic Good. However, many of the Ambler Druids tend to be more lawful as well.

Size

Goblins are between 3 and 4 feet tall and weigh between 40 and 80 pounds. Your size is Small.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Darkvision

You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Inherent Trickster

Due to your inherent nature as a trickster, you gain the ability to fool almost anyone. You gain proficiency with the Deception when try to play a trick on someone.

Fey Scavenger

Due to living in areas with high amounts of fey essence intertwined with the Material Plane, you have an innate sense of what plants are edible and which ones will kill you. Once per long rest, you may cast the goodberry. Using this spell consumes the mistletoe component.

You can speak, read, and write Common, Goblin and Sylvan.
