Homebrew Steel Dragon Species Details

Draconic Origins

Born to parents you will never remember and grown to experience the wonders of life countless times, Steel Dragons understand human life better than almost any dragon. Living as the different races of their world over and over again. To see one of these dragons in their natural form is a rare sight. Appearing to have flesh of interlocking shields and wings interlaced swords and are more feline-like than most dragons, these dragons are a terrifying sight. In their mortal form they take on all the features and age as they would as that race. The only tell will be steel like irises on their eyes or a single streak of steel colored hair, almost indistinguishable to any normal humanoid.

The Great Mission

Each and every steel dragon has a singular goal bestowed upon them by their creator. To gain wisdom and answer the meaning of mortal life.

Vaulting

With the burden of so many lives they were given, they were gifted a way of moving on in order to live each life to their fullest. After the passing of one persona of their's, they will rise again in their natural form where they will take their masterpiece or memento back to their very, very well hidden lair where they will begin the year long process of vaulting. Vaulting is the process in which they seal any and all memory of their past life forgetting family, friend, enemies, and any attachments. The process is not perfect sometimes coming back as deja vu in their next life. Near the end of this process they will use their agelinks to view current events and choose the best persona to take for their next life crafting it and assuming this new life.

As they pass through lives, they make invisible connections with individuals of importance or that they know will travel the world. These connections make sure after a year away from the world they can use these connections to research the world in order to make a new persona.

The Composition

The composition is the end goal of each and every life. This is the culmination of everything about that life. If they are a scholar it can be a a book on all their vast research, an artist it could be a masterpiece painting, or a adventurer might be a magical item or powerful scroll made by hand. These items become their horde after each life adding to their horde until it is basically a museum to their lives. This is for no one's eyes but their own. Sealed and secret until they come to revelation and their soul bond accesses their vault in order to spread your composition with the world.

Revelations

This is at the end of your lifespan. It is a deep trance you fall into at death's door for the final time. In this trance you unlock every single memory you have vaulted uncovering every last deed you have accomplished, every child, every love, including your parents. After this you finally expire, your soul coming to your god and being asked your great question. And this is a pass fail test.

Presence

Steel dragons can enforce their will in more than just fear unlike most dragons. They can enforce it three separate ways. Manifestation, obscurement, and emotional control.

Manifestation: You enforce your charisma upon (1 + your charisma modifier + your level) people within 120 feet of you. They make a DC 17 wisdom saving throw or they will become enamored with you considered Charmed for the next hour. On a successful save they cannot be charmed like that again for 24 hours. Regardless they have no knowledge of being charmed.

Obscurement: You enforce your will outward forcing others to struggle focusing on you. You gain advantage on stealth checks and any creature that does see must make a DC 17 intelligence saving throw or forget they saw you.

Emotional Control: You Use your Charisma on a group of (5 + your charisma modifier + your level) people. After a speech or song, you alter their minds either giving them (feeling courageous) Advantage or ( feeling distraught) Disadvantage on all attack roles or saving throws. Unwilling targets make a DC 17 Wisdom saving throw.
