Homebrew Darmstadt Species Details
Creatures that were cobbled together by necromancers or dark artificers, Darmstadt, often discourteously referred to as flesh golems, are a terrifying sight to all but the most open-minded creatures. Often having mismatched limbs and no memories of their lives before their death and assembly, they are often as blank of a slate as a child, easily influenced by the people around them, trying to find their own identities and claiming names either given to them or found in literature they teach themselves to read. Outcasts, sometimes they find each other and learn of their social name, or sometimes they wander for a time trying to avoid being hunted down. The world is not kind to a Darmstadt, and they find their own way to survive.
Creation
Darmstadt are constructed using the physical body parts of once-living creatures. These would have to be collected from at least six different corpses, one for the torso, head (including the brain), and each limb, though sometimes more bodies were needed. The bodies used were often of humanoids or monstrous humanoids, but any physical living creature's parts are usable. Special unguents and bindings were required to keep the flesh bound together during creation.
