Homebrew Spudborn Species Details
Spudborn
TATE GLANCED AROUND AT THE CROWDED TAVERN, his many eyes never leaving the subject of his ire. It had taken three weeks to track the man down, the bastard who had done the deed. His ale quivered in its mug as he tried to steady his hand, the images of his family skinned alive and mutilated still fresh in his mind. He might have had a way of it with his elderly parents, but he was going to discover there's nothing more foolish than angering a spudborn barbarian.

Half-baked Creations
Spudborn are the result of magical influence, the corruption of plant matter by an uncontrollable arcane force. There are many running theories as to how this came about, ranging from the aftermath of a great war to the intentional meddling of an ambitious wizard. Regardless, a day came about where the ground itself was churned in a great upheaval, and the race of Spudborn rose from the rubble.
Salt of the Earth
Spudborn are prone to being helpful, despite being the target of violent attack from the more monstrous races like goblins and orcs. Being pacifistic, altruistic, and worst of all, downright delicious, they are easy pickings for creatures so inclined to take advantage of them. Even so, they have thrived in the worlds they exist in and welcome visitors to sit with them and break bread. They make great ambassadors and have a deep connection to nature, with many druidic circles filled with spudborn.
Additionally, their trustworthy natures lend them to positions of political power and they can make their ways on to city councils by expressing their vested interest in supporting the people as a whole. They are hard to corrupt, and will not bend to the will of tyrants no matter the force applied.
When the Chips Are Down
Whilst they have had troubles in the past with being attacked by external threats, they are a hardy and resilient species. They can breed great warriors, thanks to their hearty constitution and tough skin, and when push comes to shove, they won't roll over. No matter the trouble or danger that they are in, a spudborn will not back down from it, especially when their friends lives on the line. There's no better friend to have covering your back when you know the world's about to turn upside down.
