Homebrew Areogradia Cyborg Species Details

Created as an act of revenge by hyper intelligent robots. Cyborgs are not considered human, but not considered robots either. The poor humans who had become these creatures must have been kidnapped at some point in their life by the robots and used in countless "experiments" that resulted in torture and the amputation, as well as replacement of internal and/or external body parts. Usually, Cyborgs are the offspring of important people, purposefully targeted by robots, but they can also be regular citizens as well. Cyborgs carry a lot of baggage everywhere they go and usually stay in hiding, ashamed of who they have become. With no going back from their tragedy, they must find a new purpose in life.

Personality

Cyborgs were cast away by all members of society, and sulk in the shadows because of it. They were kidnapped and made as an act of revenge by the hyper intelligent robots, seeking to eliminate all races. Cyborgs are usually the offspring of important people in power, used as a warning of their power and how they can strike at any moment, but sometimes they will take innocent civilians off the street, seemingly with no purpose except for the fun of it.

Cyborgs are usually depressed and hide in the shadows due to being treated as less than a living being, but they will become extremely loyal to their allies who show compassion and kindness to them, since they had gone so long without such emotions. They are usually not religious, loosing any belief in a god after being kidnapped and rebuilt as what most consider a monster. But over time, they can start slowly regaining a trust and loyalty in a god or goddess.

Usually Cyborgs are male or female, but some can be considered genderless. In rare cases, they no longer accept being apart of any gender, especially if they were amputated so much that most of their body is robotic.

Special Traits

Your Cyborg character has the following traits, a few of these can be chosen, so do so carefully.

Ability Score Increase

Like Warforged characters, your Constitution score increases by 2 and like humans, the other ability scores increase by 1.

Advantages in Battle

Despite being created in an act of revenge, the inhuman parts of you have the following benefits:

  • You have advantage on saving throws against being poisoned, and you have advantage to avoiding poison damage.
  • You are immune to most diseases.
  • You don’t need to sleep, and magic can’t put you to sleep.
  • You have advantage on all close range attacks upon reaching level 17

Age

Your Cyborg has the same lifespan as a human, sometimes a few years shorter, you may choose your age based on what is best for your character.

Alignment

Most Cyborgs take comfort in morally good deeds and anything that has to do against Robots. Some Cyborgs, however, have lost so much faith in those around them that they stay simply neutral in any conflict or argument.

Integrated Protection

Your body has built-in defensive layers much like Warforged characters, which can be enhanced with armor:

  • You gain a +1 bonus to Armor Class.
  • You can don only armor with which you have proficiency. To don armor, you must incorporate it into your body over the course of 1 hour, during which you remain in contact with the armor. To doff armor, you must spend 1 hour removing it. You can rest while donning or doffing armor in this way
  • While you live, your armor/robotic parts can’t be removed from your body against your will.

Language

You can speak, read, and write Common and one other language of your choice.

Areogradia Cyborg Traits

Cyborgs usually have three or more body parts that have been amputated and replaced with powerful robotic parts. These can both be internal organs such as the lungs or even their heart or external pars such as a leg or an arm.

Quirks

Cyborgs often show at most two quirky personality traits because of their extreme depression. You may choose up to two of these traits:

  • Crying Uncontrollably -- Without being able to control your depressing emotions, sometimes you will break down and cry uncontrollably for at least 5 minutes.
  • Damning the Robots -- You often find yourself blaming every bad thing that happens to you and your party on the robots, even if they had done nothing in that particular moment. If this happens, you usually yell up into the sky, damning the robots to the underworld.
  • Extremely Judgemental -- You don't understand how people can be so happy in such an awful city and rudely judge them.
  • Obsessed With Becoming Human -- Ever since becoming a Cyborg, you are now obsessed with becoming a human again, wearing long-sleeved clothes to cover your robotic traits and wear an obsessive amount of makeup.
  • Overprotective Nature -- You are fiercely protective of your allies, even if they don't need protecting.
  • Unlikeable Pessimist -- You see the worst possible outcome in every single situation given to you.
