Homebrew Alkin Species Details

Alkin were once pets of the angels, they were willed into existence to entertain and accompany angels throughout their lives. Over time, they developed a loose sense of free will, and the angels chose to bless them with the ability to walk on two legs and to reproduce. They are a loved race, as they're innately good and want to serve others. Because of their drive to serve, and the fact that they can, and often do, walk on four legs, and because of this they are often seen as a race on the line between animal and human. Many become servants of others, taken advantage of and forced to work for their masters. 

Despite their place as pets, they are very fierce in battle, as angels often fought powerful foes. While Alkin didn't defend their angels, they needed to withstand harsh blows from huge enemies, and fight back if their master was ever in danger.

Alkin Traits

Your alkin character has the following racial traits.

Ability Score Increase

Your Dexterity score increases by 2, and your Wisdom score increases by 1.

Age

Alkin reach adulthood at age 60 and can live up to 700 years.

Alignment

Alkin are innately good, and rarely fall towards selfish behavior. They tend to follow others orders and laws, so are typically lawful. 

Size

Alkin are between 2 and 3 feet tall and weigh between 25 and 35 pounds. Your size is Small.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Darkvision

You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Pack Tactics

You have advantage on an attack roll against a creature if at least one of your allies is within 5 feet of you and the ally isn’t incapacitated.

Perfect Pets

You are proficient in the Performance, skill, due to your innate ability to preform for your master.

You may also choose one other skill proficiency, and one musical instrument or artisan's tools to be proficient in.

Speech of the Woods

You can speak with most small beasts telepathically.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and Celestial.
