Guardians of the Ether

When considering planar guardians, many consider only the elemental planes and that of the genasi however the astral plain has its own guardians in the form of Astral Angels. They are the humanoid embodiment of light. Appearing in a humanoid shape with bird like wings, their skin looks like constellations and nebula as if looking into space.

The astral plane is surrounded by mysteries rarely understood by mortal beings and only briefly explored by those with strong religious connections or astral alignments. The Astral Angels are those who guard the astral plane from both being invaded from the material plane and from leaking out to mortal realms. Those who travel the astral plane can rarely see details but rather a selection of bright colours or an endless void. Navigating the plane is done solely on faith and fortune. Those with religious ties are guided by their deity and those with astral connections play with lady fortune. Astral Angels have the ability to manipulate light and so are able to see all the wonders of the astral plane.

Astral Angels rarely have relations with other races as they ate a fairly solitary race however they do connect on a ceremonial level to other guardians of planes such as triton guardians of the water plane, aasimar guardians of the celestial plane or teifling guardians of the infernal plane.

Masters of Light

Astral Angels are beings of light meaning they have a strong connection to the manipulation of light and darkness. They inherit some innate abilities to move and shape light as well as emit or absorb light used in arts, sports and combat. Light manipulation is especially celebrated in various light based festivals.

As angels they are considered as festivals but not fully accepted as angels due to their lack of allegiance or dedication to a deity. As such all other angels look down upon astral angels as if lesser beings like aasimar. This however rarely phases astral angels as they have no desire to associate with a deity. Clerics and paladins gain their power and dedication from the astral plane itself.

Cloud Dwellers

Isolated from the rest of society, astral angels make their homes on the side of mountains and cliffs, in the clouds themselves or other places hard to reach by the rest of society. Very rarely do they settle by the ground. There have been know some explorers who integrate into society as they quickly become quite well know due the the fact they stand out. Their skin can glow and shine with the hues of a nebula or could be almost midnight black like the void. Though their skin can change brightness and colour, they have little control over how as it is linked to their mood.

You can speak, read, and write Common and Celestial.

Light Manipilation

You learn spells attaining to your ability to shape and control light. At first level you learn the cantrip Light and Dancing Lights which can cast at will. At 3rd level you learn Darkness and Blur which you can cast one of once per long rest. At 5th level you learn Daylight which you can cast once per long rest. Your modifier for this is Wisdom.

Celestial Connection

As you have a strong connection to the Astral Plane you have resistance to the radiance it contains. You gain resistance to radiant damage. As such you also gain vulnerability to necrotic damage.

Keen Eyesight

Due to your affinity for light, you take in more light into your vision, giving you extra keen eyesight. You gain proficiency in Perception and you gain Darkvision up to 60ft.

Ability Score Increase

Your Wisdom score increases by 2 

Age

Astral Angels mature at 15.  It is not known truly how long they live for as the most mature drift into the astral plane never to be seen.

Alignment

Astral Angels veer towards true neutral having few ties to this plane.

Size

Astral Angels grow quite tall but their shape is fairly fluid being mostly light based, appearing over 6 feet tall. Your size is Medium.

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
