Homebrew Swamp Goblin Species Details

The swamp goblins are a particularly unintelligent and vicious goblin breed that are usually found in particularly rainy and sad (or as for goblins: "cozy and wetish") swamps.

Tiny orcs

Their ancestry is derived from tribes of small, vicious orcs or goblins that were unintelligent enough to settle in rainy and sad swaps, and thereof have adapted to the life in the mud puddles.

Their relation to orcs are obvious, as goblins are orcs that have grown smaller and nastier over long time spent in dark places. However, their appearance are not very much alike; at least not at the first glance. Their skin greenish and ears long and pointed, they look more like mutated fairies - if it were not for the pointed teeth and claws and though skin.

Goblin superstition

Goblins are severely superstitious. Writing is taboo; it is believed that putting down words on paper can steal the words from your head, and thus suck out your soul. It is also believed that the word of their chief - whoever that might be in the present moment and place - has the power to scare away the words in your head, and thus make your head empty.

Euphoric stupidity

Swamp goblins love everything dangerous, exploding, shiny-pointy, chaotic and burning.

Nimble escape

You can take the Disengage or Hide action as a bonus action on each of your turns.

Fury of the small

When you damage a creature with an attack or spell and the creature's size is larger than yours, you can the attack or spell to deal 1 extra damage to the creature.Once you use this trait you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

Darkvision

Your heritage from your orcish-goblin ancestors make your vision ideal for night raids and lurking in shadows of caves and forests. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Lucky pet toad

Lucky pet toads are symbols of bravery and bloodlust, and grants - according to superstition - vast amounts of luck. If in possession of a lucky pet toad, you can squeeze it to make it croak, and re-roll a nat-1. This does not count as taking an action. However, your lucky pet toad will die from the physical trauma.

Alignment

 

Their alignment is usually neutral evil; their morality is based on killing and eating everything that can be killed and eaten - and that is not their fellow tribesgoblins.

Swamp goblins mature between the age of 10 and 13, and often live to see 40 years - but seldom more

Swamp goblins range between 3 and 4 feet. Your size is small.
