Homebrew Cecaelia Species Details

Cecaelia are the distant descendants of krackens and are one of the rarer races of aquans, preferring to live in deep trenches and secluded underwater cave systems. Despite this secrecy however the Cecaelia bear no ill will towards other races, they simply prefer to be alone or with other Cecaelia in small colonies studying the secrets of the deep or simply living out their short lives. Rarely a group of Cecaelia can be found living with a kracken, with it serving as a protector in return for their service.

Deep-Sea Grace

Cecaelia, when seen by other races are often described as creatures with the look of an elf but with the features of a human, weighing around 130 pounds on average and standing usually about 5 feet tall the only glaring difference is the tentacles that replace their legs.

Short but Sweet

Cecaelia live a decade at most, with rare cases living for up to two, despite this Cecaelia don't see their lives as short and instead see other's lives as extremely long. Because of their short lifespans, Cecaelia matures much quicker and prefer to live their lives to the fullest. Cecaelia don't tend to linger on the past and won't waste time on something that they think is not worth their while, surprisingly marriage is a common practice among Cecaelia, but the practice of courting is not. If two Cecaelia feel an equal attraction to each other they will simply get married.

Masters of Craft

Despite what most races think they have quick minds, which combines with their secluded environment means what takes humans 20 years to think of it only takes a Cecaelia a year. Because of this like humans, Cecaelia pick a craft and stick with it their whole lives, mastering it and learning the in's and outs. Unlike humans however, Cecaelia often have no wish for fame, gold, or fortune simply because they have no need for it.

Secluded Minds

Due to their secluded most Cecaelia never even meet another race, leading to their social skills often being lacking. When a Cecaelia learns and studys another race however they do have some similar thoughts.

Dwarves. “You must admire their persitancy and mastery of their crafts, though their behavior is very strange.”

Elves. “Such elegant beings who craft such amazing art, if there's a race close to us their it.”

Orcs. “For all that ambition they never get anywhere past blood and barbarism, if one could learn a bit of control they might do some amazing things.”
