Homebrew Skoltas Species Details

Skoltas live underground in caves. They live in large groups often ruled in a monarchy, but depending on the current ruler this can be changed.

They are half snake and half humanoid, the top half being humanoid and the bottom being snake. On average they live to be 250 years old, maturing at 50. Their humanoid halves only reach about 2 feet while their snake half can reach 4-5 feet, sometimes reaching over 6 feet, but not by much. The length of their tails depends on how old they are and how high up the social ladder they are.

Males have ears that grow to a point at maturing age while females have round ears their whole life. This is the only way to tell a male from a female until they further mature. Due to this, names are often given, not based on gender, but on status. The higher the status, the more value the name has. This is also a reason why the Skoltas name their children after gems and minerals.

When they leave their cave homes, they often like to sun bathe. They are usually very pale, though they have a variety of skin tones sometimes even matching their tail color. Their tails range from most colors in the rainbow and in between, but usually fall on the darker side such a deep blues, browns, and purples. Their scales begin to taper off at their hips and stop around their belly buttons.
