Homebrew Zyrafa (Giraffe folk) Species Details

Zyrafa are giraffe-like humanoid creatures that live on the open plains of Chult in large tribal gatherings. They are quite large creatures and upon maturity, they stand at about 10 feet tall and can weigh and upwards of 1,100 lbs.

They are quite social creatures and tend to stick to their own social groups but are known to converse quite openly with the other humanoid creatures of Chult to develop some sort of peace system amongst the inhabitants of the continent and for nearly a thousand years, the native humans of Chult have stopped hunting and feasting on the flesh of these amazing creatures.

Before the times of peace and prosperity amongst the other races, Zyrafa were commonly hunted and killed and it was rare for one to reach the age of 80 which is the natural lifespan for a Zyrafa, with most of them dying in adolescence due to the extent of predators roaming Chult as well as the hunting practices of the natives.

Now, in their newly formed societies Zyrafa generally live to around the age of 80 and start producing their own family groups when they reach maturity at the age of 5.

Newborn Zyrafa are usually kept in the Tribe Elder's hut for the first few months of its life where it is kept safe from the outside world, and then the parents can take their infant and raise it after these initial months. This time period is known as the Weaning and while it seems odd to most other races in Chult, the Zyrafa see nothing wrong with it and see it as a great honor to have their newborns raised by the Elder for its first few months.

Zyrafa are not known as deadly warriors and aren't big fans of combat and shedding blood, seeing themselves as a nomadic people they tend to learn the methods of being Druids and Clerics, but only a select few Zyrafa make up the warriors who defend the tribe at a time, having no more than three who generally make up the Protectors of their tribe and their Elder.

Their long necks make them an asset when keeping track of the dangerous creatures and predators that would love nothing more than to sneak into their camp and feast on the infant Zyrafa.

Your WIsdom score increases by 2, and your Charisma score increases by 1.

Age

Although Zyrafa mature at the same rate as humans they can live up to 1,000 years old. Because of this the race values time as a useless tool to measure someone's lifetime. Giraffikoid value death as a release from the physical world and an entry to the whimsical world of spirits.

Alignment

Due to their protective nature and pacifist stance on life, they'd mostly be lawful good.

You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can't put you to sleep.

Size

Due to Zyrafa being centaurs they have an average height of 10ft and an average eight of 1,100 lbs.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 35ft.

Nomadic Ancestry

Due to the fact that Zyrafa are nomadic means that they would have intense knowledge about any type of beast. Your Character knows everything about every type of monster.
