Homebrew Automaton Species Details
Automatons are a combination of machine and magic that were created by Artificers to act as servants but upon realizing they could think for themselves they set them free from their servitude.
Automaton Traits
Your Automaton character has a variety of natural abilities due to you robotic origins.Ability Score Increase
Your Constitution score increases by 2 and your Wisdom score increases by 1.
Age
Automatons are constructed fully formed and they do not age. Although they don't age if they are not probably maintained they will star to rust (exhaustion)
Alignment
Automatons usually don't have a strong sense of good and evil and prefer to keep to their own affairs.
Size
Automatons range from under 6 to over 7 feet tall and weigh around 275 lbs. Your size is Medium.
Speed
Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Body of steel
Due to you steel body you have incredible strength and your unarmed attacks do 1d4 + your Strength modifier bludgeoning damage. You also have a base AC of 17, your dexterity modifier does not effect this number and you gain no benefit from wearing armor but you can apply a shields bonus as usual. You also have disadvantage on stealth checks.
Logical mind
You have proficiency in the Investigation and Perception skills.
Maintenance
Automatons must perform maintenance for at least 4 hours a day otherwise they will start to rust (exhaustion). After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit that a human does from 8 hours of sleep.
Forged in fire
You have resistance to fire damage
When you are inflicted with fire damage glow red hot. Anything that you touch or touches you will take 1d6 fire damage.This effect lasts for 1 minute (10 rounds). If you are hit by cold damage or submerged in water during the time when this ability is active you lose your heat and the damage it sheds.
Living construct
You are a living construct even though you were constructed, you are a humanoid. You are immune to disease and you do not need to eat or breathe.
Languages
You can speak, read, and write Common and one other of you choice.
