Homebrew Wildfolk: Nycter Species Details
The Nycters are a race of cave-dwelling wildfolk who resemble halfling-sized humanoid bats. Nycters are generally good-natured and feel a need to contribute to one another. Peaceful by nature, they prefer to avoid conflict than start fights, and will offer parlay before they fight. If they must do battle, they will fight fiercely to defend themselves, their people and their territories.

As wildfolk go, the batfolk may be the most hideous. Some mistake their generosity for an well-played, underhanded trick.Ability Score Increase
Your Dexterity increases by 2 and your Wisdom increases by 1, while your Strength decreases by 1 and your Charisma decreases by 2. You also have +1 to any two ability scores.
Age
A Nycter reaches adulthood at the age of 20 and generally lives into the middle of his or her second century.
Alignment
Most nycters are lawful good. As a rule, they are good-hearted and kind, hate to see others in pain, and have no tolerance for oppression. They are also very orderly and traditional, leaning heavily on the support of their community and the comfort of their old ways.

Nycters average about 3 feet tall and weigh about 40 pounds. Your size is Small.

Nycters have no native tongue, but can communicate general emotions to one another via chirps. You can speak, read, and write Common.
Echolocation
A nycter's echolocation lets it sense the presence and size of creatures within 120 feet. The use of this ability grants disadvantage when hiding.
Darkvision
Accustomed to life in caves, you can see in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
