Homebrew Axolotlite Species Details

"The little one rushes past its friend in a swift motion. The depths no match for their adaptable body. With a flash of magic, the aquatic creatures that were trailing the party flee. And with a wide smile, this little Axolotlite just swims towards the dearest friends they've ever had."

The Axolotlites are a small, almost lost civilization of aquatic, salamander-like humanoids. Very few facts are known of this elusive race. From what is learned from those caught in venturing parties over the years is that the race has remained hidden for the simple fact of self-preservation. With the up and coming world of larger races using resources like large bodies of freshwater and dark forests where the Axolotlite reside, they have gone into hiding to make sure they don't become extinct. Apparently they have a very rich culture despite keeping mostly separate from all other forms of humanoids. Notes of their innate magical prowess and regenerative capabilities that rival what most clerics take years to master in the School of Divination is rare but known by those seeking knowledge of these beings.

Link to Godhood

It is said that there once was a creature that resembled the Axolotlite who ascended to deity level power. Referred to as the "Dog Faced Fish God", this being is rarely documented, since it is not recognized in any religion known other than the Axolotlites.

Child-Like Beings

These beings may mature at the age of 12, but as far as what is known, the Axolotlites keep their juvenile features way through adulthood. It is said that some live to be about 60 years of age but it's not fully known as they seem like children wandering around without anyone finding out their real age.

Axolotlite Names

Most Axolotlites carry around given names from their homeland. It is a combination of the job given to them based on the skill they excelled in, and the color of their skin. (Bookseller the White, Foodmaker the Pink, etc.) Some who wander off from their home take on other monikers. They consist of a nickname that is usually onomatopoeia of a common sound from wetlands, or something they find cute. It usually starts with an "S". (Splash, Sloosh, Shlish, etc.)
