Homebrew Athos Species Details

"If you're ever wandering about on your adventures and notice several creatures scavenging the once roaring battlefield sifting through the pockets and purses of the dead and finishing of those still alive, you have just come across a band of Athos. Provided you have any sanity left in that head of yours there are two options from here you can either engage them in conversation or return from the direction of your arrival. If you have lost your mind, or are just dense then you may also engage them an ill-advised move at best and a suicide mission at worst. A Stranger In A Familiar Land

Athos are a strange creature sporting a thick barbed tail, four arms, and a pair of horns growing from their skulls as well as what appears to be a mask made of bone of their faces Athos are a truly strange sight to behold. With skin tones ranging from white as snow to black as ink and everything in between, black sclera with no pupils and any variety of colored iris' staring at you either curiously or viciously.  Weighing in at anywhere between 90 to 250 pounds and heights of between 5' 7" and 6' 11" they might not look like much in the way of size but don't let that fool, you they can be incredibly vicious and deadly when provoked.

Metamorphosis

As an Athos approaches adulthood it begins developing a small growth on the back of it's head, later in maturity this growth will be what is referred to as their "mask" which upon reaching adulthood can be retracted much like cat claws with the sleeves being in hollows in their skull and spine. If the horns would impede the growth of the mask the mask will grow around the horns, they enjoy their privacy and will avoid most contact with other creatures if possible but will interact if a job or other obligations require it. Most creatures feel uneasy around Athos causing a rift in any trust that could have been developed.

Your Dexterity score increases by 2, and your Intelligence score increases by 1.

Age

Athos mature at the same rate as humans but can live up to 600 years.

Alignment

Athos while not inherently chaotic tend to end up there due to their lifestyle and the inclination to sate their curiosity.

Size

Athos are about the same size as humans but are however slimmer and leaner. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 40 feet.

Superior Darkvision

You have superior Darkvision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 120 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

The Shade

You know the eldritch blast cantrip, and at level 3 learn the Thaumaturgy Cantrip.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and Abyssal.
