Homebrew Warsteel Homunculus (Human Host) Species Details

Hiding on a dusty library shelf, a small silvery ooze anxiously waits patrons to leave so it may continue reading the next sequel in it's favorite novel series.

Their Purpose

The Warsteel Homunculus is the precursor to the modern age Warforged. Designed to be a sentient organism with the abilty to act as armor, and weaponry for its host.
Due to the expenses, and difficulty to construct they were discontinued in favor of The Warforged. Though the methods used to produce them are lost many Warsteel Homunculi
live in abandons laboratories or amongst the local population, observing their cultures.


Modern Day Homunculi

By itself, The Warsteel Homunculus is a small size ooze resembling liquified metal. The weight of these creatures can range anywhere between 20 to 50 pounds, and can extend as high as
4 feet in length as to make moveability simpler to reach their desired locations. Coming in a variety of colors which changing in accordance to metals they find for sustenance.
Due to the magical, and alchemical components used to create them they're very durable with an almost indefinite lifespan. While able to understand languages native
to their residential area, they also have the ability to telepathically speak to whomever they bond to.

It Can Think?

Warsteel Homunculi's can have a variety of personalities though mostly passive, and curious creatures. However, this can change by the influence of the being they bond to. Many
homunculi in this era struggle to find purpose without war or battles to contribute to. During these peaceful times they seek other ways to occupy their curiosity, whether it be
journeying with a companion, or hiding amongst villagers, obeserving and learning about their culture.

Warsteel Homunculi Names

Most are typically not born with names. They usually are earned or received like nicknames, and are very similar to names Warforged are given.


Warsteel Homunculus (Human Host) Traits

Alone a Warsteel Homunculus is not threatening. Though when bonded with a host it offers an array of weaponry, and has the ability to cover its host as a suit of armor.

Ability Increase

Two different ability scores of your choice increase by 1

Size

Humans vary widely in height and build, from barely 5 feet to well over 6 feet tall. Regardless of your position in that range, your size is Medium. Though with the Homunculi living inside you this adds some excess weight to you around 20-40 pounds.

Feat

You gain one feat of your choice.

Bonus Proficiency

You gain proficiency in one skill of your choice.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Alignment.

Warsteel Homunculus favor companionship over most things. As such they're generally good aligned creatures though the host can greatly influence this.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and one extra language of your choice. Humans typically learn the languages of other peoples they deal with, including obscure dialects. They are fond of sprinkling their speech with words borrowed from other tongues: Orc curses, Elvish musical expressions, Dwarvish military phrases, and so on.

Age

Humans reach adulthood in their late teens and live less than a century.

Metal Adaptation

You may have your Warsteel Homunculus absorb any metal you find so it may use the materials effects such as adamantine armor makes you immune to crits so on , and so forth. You may only have access to a single type of material at one time this way.

Artifical Weaponry

As a bonus action you give your host the ability to change the size, shape, and type of weapon you're currently morphed into. This can not be used to mimic exotic weapons unless the Warsteel Homunculus has seen it, nor does it give proficiency with them. You may also choose to create a shield by using another bonus action next turn.

Living Armory

As a full round action you may cover your hosts body in a shell mimicking the stats of the armor you choose. You may choose any light armor at 1st along with any armor your Homunculus, and you come across. Your Homunculus must interact, and study the armor for an hour before it may copy it onto you.

Bonding

You have the ability to bond with any sentient being that is willing. Bonding takes a week to get used to both participants getting used to coexisting with eachother. This is required for communication with your host, and for them to use any of the abilities you offer.
