Homebrew Arusian Species Details

the Arusians are a race of amphibious creatures that are on average 3 feet tall. they have smooth soft bodies, and can come in many shades, most commonly pink, green, purple, or blue. they have horny structures where hair would be on a human. they can have one or many horns, but the most common Is one or two. much like their cousins, the grung, the Arusians can also have gold members, often the chieftains and elite warriors, but unlike their cousins, this is the only caste level that distinguishes them. gold Arusians usually have three horns.they have aposable toes, and their feet and hands don't have much distinction in shape between them. they have tails that reach the ground, and usually are wide at the base and taper to a rounded tip at the end, sometimes forming a ball at the end as well. they have two eyes, small mouths, round faces, and nostrils that are slits, as to allow them to survive underwater for extended periods of time. they have gills as children, loosing them as adults.  any color Arusian can be born from their parents, and it is a great honor for the parents to have a golden child. the Arusians originated in the swamps but moved inland when they realized that they could raise their young in tanks instead of the swamp water that they were preyed on in. Arusians mate similar to humans, in that they usually have one designated partner at a time, but can and do change over time. they can live to be very old, living on land until they are about 80, then returning to the water for the last 20-40 years of their lives, regrowing their gills for this stage.
