A Life of Bondage

Nearly every Aneenwele has known the weight of chains and the lash of the whip. To see one without his master is to rouse suspicion. Therefore Aneenwele place a high value on being present with other hominids when in civilization, whether they are owned or not. 

There is blatant mistrust and fractures within Aneenwele society based on how one serves. If an Aneenwele is given preferential treatment by his master, good clothes, and good food, others see him as a favorite and a sell out. The Aneenwele way is to resist his master and exemplify the legendary hero Mbate.

Aneenwele also greatly detest material wealth and tools of the oppressors. They seek oneness with the earth to derive their magical power, as opposed to practiced study. Complexity represents the masters, which is therefore evil.

The Legend of Mbate

All young Aneenwele are told of the exploits of Mbate. Whether he ever existed, scholars debate, but all Aneenwele at least know the stories. They range from winning a gamble against a mountain to tearing a cow in half and finding a magic seed. Whatever story Mbate shows up in, he is the biggest, the smartest, the handsomest. Translations of his legend vary regarding his resurrection. When translated directly, the words read "THE BLOOD OF MBATE WILL RISE FROM THE EARTH AND WALK AMONGST US."

Legends are told to children, spoken in small groups, but whether or not an Aneenwele believes in Mbate depends on how broken his spirit is. Then again, even the most jaded Aneenwele may cry out to the hero in his sleep, or evoke him for mercy in times of great trouble.

Uncanny Skills

While Aneenwele detest the lot they've been given, enough time under the umbrella of their dominating race has imparted them with some practical skills. Aneenwele are usually good at one and one thing in particular. Typically this is a craft or practice. Aneenwele describe this skill as their "homage", as if it is something completely separate from their person.

Performing a homage task, while degrading, is now seen as necessary to their people's continued survival. The greatest task an Aneenwele can perform would be to turn his homage against those who taught it to him. Doing so "frees the spirit", if not the body.

 

Aneenwele Names

Birth names mean little to the Aneenwele. Mortality of their children is high, and you must earn your name in their society. Children are typically named by masters. If by some small miracle an Aneenwele is born outside of bondage, they are simply called "boy" or "girl" until they come of age.

An Aneenwele must earn his name from another Aneenwele by performing a great deed. Once he does so, he will keep the name until his death. Some lonely Aneenwele live their entire lives without having earned a name.

You ignore difficult terrain when you take a Dash action.

Great Leaper

You increase your long jump distance by 5 feet, or 10 feet when you get a running start.

Ability Score Increase

Your Strength score increases by 2, and your Constitution score increases by 1.

Age

Aneenwele have lifespans comparable to humans. They enter adulthood in their late teens and usually live less than a century.

Alignment

Aneenwele tend to gravitate toward chaotic alignments.

Size

Aneenwele are between 7 and 8 feet tall and weigh between 280 and 340 pounds. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Natural Athlete

You have proficiency in the Athletics skill.

Powerful Build

You count as one size larger when determining your carrying capacity and the weight you can push, drag, or lift.

Languages

You can speak limited Common, but cannot read. You can also sign fluently (thieves cant) and have a limited telepathic range of 10 feet.

FLING POO NOW

Once per long rest, you can poop into your hand and throw it. Target must make a DC 10+your ranged attack bonus or take 1d4 damage and be blinded. Enemies can take a standard action to wipe the poo away, thereby curing the blindness.
